He served in foreign office for so long but yet he has not understood the UN resolution and various advices which council has passed over the years. He doesn't know that what are the steps mentioned in UN resolution. He keeps confusing his fellow countrymen with manipulative theories of his own. For an example: There was another resolution passed in favour of Pakistan army presence in J&K. Now he he never tells his people that that particular resolution was not a mandatory rule but just an advice which can be considered or not. Bottom line is that the resolution is plain and simple: 1) Withdraw of all the Pakistan Army from J&k region, every person who has settled in J&k post 1947 needs to vacate. 2) Indian army will withdraw, but sizeable number of defence forces required to manage law and order. And eventually for carrying out the referendum procedure with the coordination of UN officials. Every Pakistani keeps barking about UN resolution but they never ask their government that when you have gifted Kashmiri land to China, then how do you expect referendum too happen because Chinese will not vacate the land over which they have been building infrastructure. The demographic changes in POJ&K is astonishing. How government will make them vacate the places where they were facilated to settle years ago by government itself But as I said Pakistan's cap is full of such stupid fools feathers. You can talk with someone who has some sense but what will you do if person in front of you is simply out of his/her senses. One of such nonsensical personality is Mr Bashit.

Excellent Arvind! One is fool to expect any rational argument from Mr Basit. Why do I say do? Mr Basit defied the elected Prime Minister of Pakistan of the day - Mr Nawaj Sharif. Mr Basit is on record to say exodus of Kashmiri Pundits is nothing but a cooked up story. What can you expect from such a person. He calls terrorists convicted by the courts of his country 'Saheb'. He is religiously radicalised person for him terrorist acts in Kashmir is a Zihad, so every such act is valid. He even opposed the initial decision of Pak govt under Imran Khan to start trade with India. Mr Basit has happily encouraging and brain washing Kashmiri youth to wage war against the sovereign country. Arvind ji if I remember correctly it was during Ambassador Basit's tenure in India when he invited all the separatist leaders to Delhi for a meeting and was very aggressive on that front. If international law permits freedom struggle then the freedom struggle for Balochistan is valid. Killing kamar baloch in Canada was an act of terrorism, POK considers it as "Azad Kashmir" yet Pakistani military is occupying it so freedom struggle there is valid. The division happened because of religious divide; yet Kartarpur is in Pakistan. Jinha asked for "homeland" so air space doesn't belong to Pakistan it belongs to India. The Granthi girl was force fully converted what a blatant violation. So our struggle for all this will continue. In summary, they keep accusing and we keep defending. Now on it should be reversed.

Awesome effort!!! It is praiseworthy that Arvind took on a career diplomat. Unfortunately Mr. Basit tied up Arvind with semantics and definitions of choice while avoiding straight answers. However the fact is that Indian law will prevail in this context because Yasin Malik’s victims are Indian and their family members are entitled to justice under Indian law.

Abdul Basit got severely cornered. I think Arvind forgot to point out one big contradiction in his statement. He harps on Kashmir solution based on UNSC resolutions, but at the same time says Kashmiris will decide their own destiny. UNSC resolutions see the Kashmir issue ONLY as bilateral between India and Pakistan.

If Yasin is not Indian citizen then NIA court has taken absolutely correct decision. According to Badit, anyone who is engaged in terrorism in India are freedom fighter but if they are doing terrorism in Pakistan then they are punishable.
