This song is SO TIMELY for my family and I! My 13 year old sister has cancer, and Sunday I had gotten a call from my parents asking to gather all of my siblings to come and say our goodbyes… We prayed, we asked for a miracle, and here we are 5 days later and my sister has made a MIRACULOUS recovery and doctors are in AWE!

Her voice was truly anointed by the Lord. She’s long gone but it still touches the soul. I love Mahalia Jackson because she not only loved the Lord but she made sure to live her life according to his principles. I recall doing a book report on her twenty-seven years ago in the tenth grade and that’s what stood out the most - her conviction to do the Lord’s work, and to use her voice only for it.

This version always moves me deeply... at my grandma's memorial service the pianist played this while everyone was gathering and seating. No one knew what it meant to me at the time, but I still can't get thru this one without a tear in my eye lol.

This song never dies. This is message those who accept the lord as their personal saviour. One of my favorites. I may not sing like her but it surely touch me . I was named Mahalia by my mom. Very unique name too. Mahalia was certainly a very powerful woman of God in her ministry. May she get her heart desire as she song just a closer wolk with thee. RIP sister Jackson

Amen. Grandma had a friend named Mandy, they’d play Mahalia Jackson’s music while they would make dinner. We’d share dinner , Mandy had already lost her husband and kids had moved out. We sure loved her, Grandma knew no stranger, she loved everyone genuinely. And you share a beautiful name

Hard to believe that this was performed 54 years ago ? This song may not affect anyone else, but there are times when 'my bones' need to hear this performance. It kinda' makes me want to 'sashay a bit' myself. God bless all who 'dwell in the house of the Lord'. Amen !
