I was NOT EXPECTING THAT! I bust out like what the heck!!! But it’s because her hair was dry so long in the straight state. Obviously whatever she used sealed out any moisture so its not sinking in.Clarifying shampoo to get that stuff OFFF her hair, she needs to steam open those cuticles and do a protein treatment maybe, then the LOC method. I bet you that would work?! I hope that will work!

I thought the same. Silicone and oil will not allow water to penetrate. And I think she is low porosity. She needed a sulfate or clarifier or chelating shampoo to get that all off. And that Shea Moisture shampoo that she used is not a clarifyer or a detoxing or a chelating shampoo. A clay masque might have helped. I never run out of deep conditioner. Nah. And my hair is just above shoulder length and fine but thirsty strands.

She actually needs a sulfate and or some clay and EDTA to get them off. That's why the water struggle to get in and the purpose of deep conditioner is to penetrate deep into the hair strand. The conditioner she used is only to smooth the first. Cuticle layer. Remember her hair had no moisture for 3 whole weeks! Not dry hair. That's de-hydrated hair. Hydrating the hair come from water and conditioner penetrating deep into the strand cortex third layer. I have high porosity hair and I have to deep condition weekly. Straightening had nothing to do with that. It was the oil she applied b4 she started. Water can't penetrate the oil & her shampoo wasn't strong enough in one wash, to remove it. Had she used a clarifying shampoo or washed with what she had 3 or 4 times then good conditioner, would have had totally different results . You HAVE to use a shampoo strong enough to remove oils but packing oil on b4 washing defeats the purpose of washing. It sealed in the dirt

Phew the title scared me, don't do this to us! hehe. I think the oil was partly to blame for the results, when it attaches to the hair it's hard to remove in a wash (that's why people use oil as a sealant I guess, it makes water harder to come out but also to come in). Idk honestly, I've always read mixed opinions about the use of oils and other products we usually use for the hair not actually being that good and now I'm not sure about anything anymore! Have you heard about the ebook "Wash Your Damn Hair" by the hair stylists Aeleise Ollarvia and Aishia Strickland? @@Michelle-dm3nl exactly what I thought, yes. I'm glad to hear a good experience with bcm of someone in youtube as well. I used to use oils on the outher layer of my hair only, to protect it against the wind and cotton pillowcase at night (looking for a satin case now) but in the end i felt like the hair didn't feel as cleaned after i washed it so i stopped using it. Now I started read bcm advices since they make sense to me. If it weren't for my very low budget right now I would get the products they recommend and the ebook, but for now that will have to do.

@@xBeyondMystery I agree. She needed a clarifying shampoo. That Shea Moisture one is a moisturising shampoo. And skipping deep conditioner is a no. You can skip rinse out conditioner because you can detangle with leave in detangler and slippery styling products. Curly hair cannot skip deep conditioner in my opinion not Type 3 and Not type 4 and certainly not if your hair hasn't seen conditioner or moisturiser in 3 whole weeks. My trichologists would be mad. Lol!

Funny I had a similar experience but different from most of these comments. For me, the issue was the heat protectant that was on my hair. It blocked (since it is silicone based) the conditioner and the curls from reverting. I had to clarify my hair via a shampoo then deep condition and my curls popped back ….good luck !

We have similar hair, and I'm just gonna say you're showing all the signs I had before I just decided to big chop. This was one of the signs when I showered it wasnt instantly reverting. Dry it could look okay but then eventually my hair started to thin out on the ends. It took a year before I said "I cant save this time to cut it." Hope you can save it.

Nah. All she needs to do is use a clarifying and chelating shampoo and deep condition with heat. I use a gentle sulfate shampoo and deep condition weekly. That stops my hair becoming dehydrated.

Hey Amber I looove your vids :) Just a suggestion, you should stop using products that include Sulfates, Parabens, and Silicones in shampoos. They can have a significant effect on your curl pattern and some people have noticed that their hair has been different since using these products that include these ingredients. Just a suggestion though, I know everyone has their own opinions and preferences. 💕

I would call that heat trained. I don't think it's damaged as you said. But don't take my word for it cause I am not a professional. But I would say since you defuse and straighten it often enough I think it was trained for heat. So your straightened styles last longer and it's flatter when you blow dry it. But it should revert if you lay off the heat for a while. (not saying you use it all that much but still) Hope that explains a little something but anyway your hair is still cute fluffy. Should have picked it out and wore it like a fro 🤷🏽‍♀️ good luck with your journey 😊

Maybe you need a clarifying shampoo to remove whatever remaining products that's preventing your hair from absorbing much needed moisture. Also, try using a deep conditioning mask that's fortified with protein, like shea moisture strengthen and restore mask. If you're tight with money currently, maybe you can use homemade recipes like rice water rinses and diy deep conditioners etc.

They probably added silocone creams and serums to your hair when doung the silk press! You are going to need a sulfate shampoo to remove that layer that the silicone has formed around your hair, that could be the reason why something is off. Idk, but give it a try, and definitally make sure you are not letting silicones build up on ur hair!

Clarify, use a protein treatment and make sure you use a protein-free deep moisture, conditioner with heat after and then put you hair in a protective style (twists or 2or 3 French braids) for a week moisturising daily, every other day or midweek. Then you can wear your hair out. It would have recovered. Lol!

If you leave your silk press that long you better use high performance products afterwards. The shampoo she used was not strong enough to get off what ever has been in her hair for 3 whole weeks. If she had been to the salon, the first thing that they would do is clarify her hair and stick her under the steamer or dryer with some deep conditioner.
