the other thing about the plane trails not being "chemtrails" is that... plane engines... are very hot. the sky, at that height... is very cold. so cold that if you managed to get outside of the plane the temperature could kill you. when you put a very cold thing in a very hot thing, you get condensation, which is what makes up the clouds in the sky. that's also part of why planes leave behind little "cloud" trails. science.

Yeah, I’m afraid this stuff does happen. When I was about 90 lbs bigger I had a complete stranger approach me in the grocery store, tell me I have an amazing ass he’d ever seen and asked what I was doing that evening. I must have been in the 330’s at that point. I’m very grateful that I had a male friend there who caught what was happening and walked over with something in his hand and asked “hey babe? Did we run out of these, I didn’t check this morning.” I was so unbelievably grateful to him for that because I did t know what to say because I was just floored a complete stranger complimented my ass and asked what I was doing later. Even just following a cat around the allegedly catproof yard is an adventure. Which I have done, phone set to record video, when a cat has figured out a way to get out of the allegedly catproof yard and we don’t know how. At first they enjoy the company. But eventually they start to get rather annoyed by my stalker behavior. Then there were the times a cat got out of the yard and I had to follow them around the neighborhood, looking for a capture opportunity. The last time, Senior cat had been over grooming and looking scraggly, and when she waltzed out of the accidentally open gate, I was afraid she would be picked up by Animal Control if somebody thought she was a contagious stray. (She learned how to get out of a tracker collar a decade ago.) She thoroughly enjoyed herself exploring the whole neighborhood, as she had done in her much younger days before fence security was tightened. I did not. I almost fell a few times trying to keep up with her. But I wondered if I should get a harness with an ultra long leash for her and try deliberate walks…

Merc - that extra “ell” sound in words ending with “saw” (“sawl”) and in the middle of some words like “both” (“bolth”) is a feature of several US dialects. Apparently some Southern dialects use this and the area of Northern California in which she is raised apparently does also. I’ve heard it in speech by someone raised in Colorado/Utah also. So it’s part of specific dialects and not something she does to annoy people. I really wish people would stop laughing at people for using non-academic dialects. Dialects are real complete languages with consistent grammar and vocabulary/pronunciations and are just as much an expression of human intelligence as anything used in schools, no matter what uninformed English teachers may have told you. Use of dialect is not an indicator of low intelligence at all. No need for linguistic snobbery, people. Amberlynn has lived in several different places and her speech is mixed because that happens to many people, including myself. But the “sawl” and “bolth” seem to be from Northern California in whatever region she lived in or where her father grew up. (We are also influenced by our parents and others around us in our earliest years, and not just by the locals). Not every area of California, obviously, so people saying “I’m from California and I don’t do that” - chill, dialects are often very localized. If you wouldn’t shame an adult in real life standing in front of you about their use of dialect, you might refrain from doing it to KZbinrs as well. I find it really annoying when certain reactors keep “correcting” such dialect use by Amberlynn because they rigidly assume that whatever they learned in school is absolutely the only correct way to speak English. It doesn’t reflect well on them to do this. To me, it just reflects how much they dislike the admittedly very unlikeable Amberlynn. But remember that when she is dissed for how she speaks, others with similar speech are also being unfairly dissed. Criticize her for all the things for which she is eminently criticizable instead, please. Also, she obviously has a larger reading vocabulary than spoken vocabulary and that is why she makes some unsuccessful attempts to pronounce some words. This is not at all uncommon. Happens to me also. She doesn’t have a clear memory for active use of some words that she passively recognizes, also. Again - not unusual. I have a better visual memory for such words, but that doesn’t make me a better or smarter person. She has little opportunity to use or hear such words in her limited social interactions, that’s all. I give her points for trying.

Two issues with this: She doesn’t have a specific regional dialect--she was “southern” when with Becky, “whispery- with very little regional pronounciation” with Krystal. “Urban/aave” with wipey-and has the flat vowels of the OK accent with mamalynn. The bulk of her accent right now is “LA influencer” from Tik tok. She is mirroring others constantly-so it’s not her own regional dialect. She doesn’t “attempt “ to pronounce --she mis pronounces, is corrected--acknowledges the correction and then continues to mispronounce. She PURPOSELY makes errors to be “quirky”, or to play dumb (which seems to be much more prevalent lately. She had a wider vocabulary, and made far less errors earlier in her “career “ -which tells me that the current “amber-speak” is performative.

@@tchaikca- you would say the same about me, because my accent changes depending on where I live. There are simply people who do this naturally. They typically do get accused of doing it deliberately, as you are doing with her, but that just is not how the brain and language work. For example, it is common for people from other countries who are teaching their own native language to find their native speech being easily contaminated by the new language in which they are now embedded. This is why it is advised that such teachers have long visits back to their native country or one where that language is spoken to try to reset. Even the IRS sees that as partly tax deductible. A friend who teaches Russian sometimes (he is a native US English speaker himself) was mentioning to me in particular that native Russian-speaking teachers can lose their natural intonation, rhythm, and accents in Russian within a very short time, even just three years. That is a professional liability, they are not trying to do it deliberately. I talked with a woman born and bred in Indiana in the US Midwest who had married a Kenyan and lived there with him and their children for years. She had completely lost her Midwestern accent and instead spoke with that very distinctive British African accent in English. That was not a deliberate change. It just happened. For some people, such major changes happen very fast when they are surrounded by a new language or accent. If it has never happened to you and your accent stays intact no matter where you live, then you may find this too hard to believe. But it has happened to me personally and it is a well known phenomenon among those who study such matters. The specific speech characteristics I noted in Amberlynn are definitely part of her natural original native accent. I've heard her try to change them to avoid mockery and she swings back to them. Also it is consistent from where she grew up. Really, it is not worth criticizing her for these things. You are assuming she is consciously trying to annoy you or commit fraud or something else nefarious. My feeling is that she is not. Her accent simply is more fluid than for many people. It may very well be connected with her tendency to mirror other people around her and to mimic emotions she can't feel, but that does not mean that she is deliberately faking her easy changes in accent. She just isn't that good an actor. And such linguistic changes don't hurt anybody. They are just interesting. By the way, it also is not all unusual for vocabulary to shrink and expand depending on the people around you and your opportunities to talk with them about more than the weather. Use it or lose it applies. She seems very easily influenced this way also. Think of how little opportunities she has to actually talk with others. At Krystle's place, she routinely heard better conversation from Krystle's parents. It is not surprising that she ended up speaking with more variety while there. Her brain is simply very fluid in all aspects of language. Again, this doesn't hurt anybody else and is not likely under her conscious control.

She has recently started pronouncing “food” completely differently-(it started in KY-and is still very exaggeratedly different in OK--she is using her “influencer voice”. Chantal does the same. Thanks for the linguistics lesson-I’m aware of regional dialects, of losing accents/absorbing them. I think that in Ambers case -there are things that she does do unconsciously-and they stay restively consistent across videos-but there are definitely affectations that she is purposely adopting . I’m not “upset “ about it--but when she continues to use poor grammar “I haven’t ate yet”--even after being corrected multiole times--that is NOT a regional dialect-that is lazy speech . The beauty of the Internet (and being a HUMAN, is that we are free to be annoyed by things, and to give opinions on those things.

@@tchaikca- We have to distinguish between unconscious shifts in general dialect and what you describe, which is very natural for people to do also. We do sometimes deliberately imitate interesting ways of saying things, especially from what we see on stage or on tv or in videos and especially in repetitive commercials. People do this with phrases popularized by comedians especially, also sometimes by actors in general. Commercials are great sources of this also. It's harmless and fun. That is likely what she is doing with the word "food" - playing with it because someone's use of that pronunciation caught her attention. That is quite different from other types of dialect changes which she most likely picks up naturally from people around her without consciously deciding to do so. Listen to kids, listen to yourself, and you will likely catch all of you doing this "new and different and funny" imitations of words and phrases and saying them with the accent and intonation used by the originator. I know that I do it sometimes myself. I still remember shopping in a store when suddenly out of the blue a toddler in a shopping cart shouted out "America, we're out to change your diaper!" with a perfect imitation of the guy in a diaper commercial at the time. The kid's intonation and accent was absolutely perfect! Startled the mom.... So there we have an example of this funny imitation situation type deal in a case where the user probably didn't even understand all the words. Also what you are calling "poor grammar" is just "different grammar" common to many dialects in the US. I would say it's part of her first dialect because she reverts to it so easily even if she tries to say it "your way" to keep you folks from "correcting" her. Every dialect has its own consistent grammar and her grammar is just as consistent as any in such matters. There is simply no one way to properly speak English and it just isn't worth getting bothered by it. Listen carefully and you will see that she is quite consistent about what you perceive as "poor grammar" when she is speaking freely. It is definitely not laziness. She may sometimes try to match the academic dialect sometimes, but it clearly is not her native dialect. I would rather people feel free to speak their own dialect in its natural state than shut up because they can't reliable match the academic dialect. Even obnoxious narcissistic Amberlynn.

For everyone except lazy A$$ ALR, If you hard boil eggs and keep them in the shell until you eat each one, they will last for weeks. My sister has an organic free range egg farm in Sonoma CA and it’s a secret most don’t know. Obviously the fresher the egg the longer they’ll last. If they crack then it does not apply and eat those first. Be safe!

To be fair to her, I really think ALR was being sarcastic about the "chem-trails." I don't like walking, either. I prefer my workout videos, but I only do it for Clara 🐕. ALR reminds me of Bill Deautrive in that King of the Hill episode where the city bans trans fats & he starts snarfing-down all of these snacks that are "trans fat free" because he mistakes that for "healthy" & Hank & the Boys remind him of all of the other times he's done that & just gained more weight.
