I'm very glad you included the random passerby singing a bit of song. I don't think we realize how often people sang to themselves or in groups to pass the time before the era of recorded music.

I really think it's a shame that nowadays, people are so uptight about anyone expressing themselves any way in public that you end up being afraid of singing even when you want to and know it would put you in a good mood because people will think you are "crazy" for doing so. Once my dad got the police called on him just for chanting a prayer behind some bushes at a public wildflife park. Someone heard him and thought he must be "on drugs" and dangerous. *sigh*

Having autism and adhd, I struggle a lot when it comes to cleaning days for my appartement, getting focus on this task is nearly impossible. But recently I discovered I could put on some medieval clothings, do little braids in my hair and pretend I’m a maid for the royal castle getting my work done and now I find cleaning days way more fun ! Might be childish but I absolutely love it, thanks for this video 🫶🏻

Now I decided to go through all of them one by one because I don't want to miss any second. Thank you for this magic! This one reminds me of the Guédelon project, but it is wonderful in itself. I love this setting. I like how your colors bring out the point that though the colors look subdued to the modern eye when visitors come by on tours, it would have been anything but to the people who lived there. These rooms were a place of sanctuary for harried courtiers, it would have been full of laughing, singing,and gossiping, snacking and game playing. Not a quiet place at all! I would not have wanted to be someone with a headache that day,that's for sure!

Yes, this room as I've presented it here is rather quiet, but I do love your more historically accurate image of a bustling room "full of laughing, singing, and gossiping, snacking and game playing," as you so delightfully and aptly said. As an introvert, I tend to shy away from such hectic, lively spaces, but you've inspired me to explore that kind of ambiance a bit more. :)

I always have a smile at your horse sounds. The whickering is lovely and soft, but the neigh you use here and in a few of your other ambiences is a real "stallion scream". I am incredibly blessed to live on a property with many horses, and very close to my home are a few of the stallions that declare themselves to the whole yard exactly like that as they are lead through the stables a few times a day.
@ambienceofyesteryear68714 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment, Cheryl, and I wonder if you'll allow me to ask you a question, since you are someone who is very familiar with horses (I, admittedly, am deathly allergic and thus not familiar at all). I was told by a viewer previously that the "stallion scream" you mentioned is an unpleasant/aggressive sound that does not reflect the noises of relaxed, happy horses. This surprised me, since the recording of "horses in the countryside" I had been using seemed to capture a free, easy setting that I assumed would not be particularly stressful to horses. Luckily, I now have a broader range of publicly accessible horse recordings to utilize, but I wonder if you would also characterize the "stallion scream" as something relaxed & happy horses don't typically do. It sounds from your comment as if it might just be a way of showing off and announcing their majestic presence. :)

@@ambienceofyesteryear6871 that call is, as you guessed, a bit of a challenge or announcement. A stallion usually heads a herd in the wild, has only mares in it and will challenge other stallions or even colts reaching "teenage" years to let them know of his presence and that this is his territory and his herd. It's not an unhappy sound persay; though it's not as welcoming as the "whickering" that a horse will use to greet a familiar horse or person, or the lower note that a mare will neigh to call her foal at, or the more relaxed call a horse of either gender will give when he/she sees you approaching with food. I stand corrected but I believe the practice of "gelding" (you would know it perhaps as neutering in a dog) is likely historically relatively modern, so in days gone by that call would have been much more common to hear than now, where stallions in general use would be commonplace. Few people who are at stables regularly even may have made the distinction in your videos, I just live right by several stallions who are used for breeding on occasion and are more territorial (and hence challenge the yard in general quite regularly) and sometimes look with great confusion at my speakers thinking, "I was sure I switched the Ambiance off?" Only to realise it's one of the actual stallions calling. I like the calls as part of the lovely recordings from farms in the countryside that you use, they fit in well I think.

I'm afraid that, in your generosity and kindness, you've given me too much credit: my videos are based on photographs of real places, and I am not nearly talented enough to conjure such settings entirely from scratch. @ambienceofyesteryear68715 жыл бұрын
This is a castle, yes, a specific castle in Germany. The only distinguishable language is Latin, though I confess that I sometimes take liberties with language in my videos (I prefer to focus on feeling/mood rather than geographical accuracy), so I advise you not to rely too heavily upon language-clues in general! :)
