I don't know whether other regular listeners will agree, and I don't have the musical knowledge to have an informed opinion, but I thought there were some strange and interesting additional elements in this concert that felt/sounded a bit different from what I was 'expecting' (based on having enthusiastically followed this channel for a while) - there were 2 or 3 sections that had a fascinating sense of 'open-ness' and 'expansion' in both structure and timbre, in a way that I am not musically qualified to define or describe... And this is not a criticism of any of the other wonderful work: it's a sense of awe at a highly skilled and crafted talent that can still 'loosen up' into an ever more creative imagination...

I noticed the Minifreak in your collection. It kind of sticks out a bit among the other great synths. Do you use it for sound design or mainly as midi keyboard (with "additional functions")?
@MartinStuertzer7 ай бұрын
I use it for the synth's sound engine, but also as a midi keyboard. It is a very powerful synth, the price should not fool anyone.

Martin hello. You told about your ob-6 that you've tired this often out of tune. This is resolving by clicking Manual + 0, it writes settings for certain temperature. Do it every time when it's out of tune and after some time it will take all required data and hopefully resolve issue completely
@MartinStuertzer8 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the tip. I used the calibration feature a lot but this synth is still out of tune all the time. :(
@maciejs33298 ай бұрын
@@MartinStuertzer it might require some maintenance touchup. electronics on the printet circuits is geting aged as well. look for the electronicioan or workshop who might repair thisa or at least diagnose.
@MartinStuertzer8 ай бұрын
@@maciejs3329 lol I bought it new less than two years ago! I am certainly not bringing this one to a workshop, it would be more a warranty thing. But I had it checked by Sequential already and they say that it is within specifications.
@dmitrybraginets4618 ай бұрын
One More thing - You can Delete your current temperature matrix by pressing Manual + 3 and Re-calibrate it and you should be fine

@@MartinStuertzer OK. you re right. I am not familiar with these brands and models, thought it is much older equipment. A year ago my father was servicing Prophet -5 synthesiser which refused to play due malfunction of the ... reference frequency circuit. ??... something like that , surely somewhere in tuning/controlling circuitry. But that was 40y old equipment (one of 3 devices stil used by Mr Losowski ;) ) and pretty not typical/ rare failure.
@maw03807 ай бұрын
Beautiful as always! Any advice on the chords to create those atmospheric and open-ended textures? I always struggle between drones that sound too static and 'traditional' progressions that sound too structured. And random chords make no sense, obviously
@MartinStuertzer7 ай бұрын
That is something, which I can't explain just in one comment. But if you check my latest Ambient Production session, you can see which notes I play. I enabled screensharing in, so that you should be able to catch the incoming notes. What I often do is stacking thirds or fourths, instead of plain minor or major chords. I rarely do real chord progressions when I play Ambient stuff.
@Kbsmith-6266 ай бұрын
Like many others you have composed this is equally astounding. I often wonder though. Do you play the sounds in your mind over and over again throughout the week and by Sunday, you have a great idea where you are going to take your audience next? I still have yet to understand why it is that your music is the only thing that helps me sleep. Maybe it’s because there’s some spiritual connection with your cat. I don’t own a cat because of landlord however I’ve always been drawn to cats as a companion. Again Martin thank you
@MartinStuertzer6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words, I am happy, that my music helps you to rest. Before I record the Home concerts I usually prepare sounds and patterns for a week or two. I make a plan for the set, but also try to leave room for spontaneous ideas and improvisation.

hey martin i`ve got a question for you , i own a take 5 and a prophet rev 2 , my question is when you`re using midi on your sequential devices to modulate a parameter filter cutof , filter decay etc , are you using the midi cc ?? or are you using the NRPN prefered method ??? in case you`re using NRPN how you setup let`s say in stepic ? just curious i have been using it with midi cc but just wondering if will work too with the NRPN and how to setup from daw stepic etc ... thnx
@MartinStuertzer8 ай бұрын
I always use midi CC. NRPN has a few advantages over classic CC, but for my needs CC is enough and NRPN makes things a lot more complicated. When I do filter sweeps or other things, where the 128 steps would be an issue, I rather use an LFO or envelope to work around the problem.
