Disclaimer - Largely a learning stream about getting set up, then after about 75% of the way through, I'm learning things about the game. Definitely check out Quill18's series on it, as it's very in-depth, and I've learned a lot from it. There's not much video tutorial content on this game out yet. Might do another run of another theme once I've got more of the concepts down. Until then, treat this as a basic setup type of video - hopefully more to come if you like!

I've played quite a bit of syx but somehow it never occured to me that i could settle in mountainous terrain like where you've settled here. Such a satisfying game to watch, it's the colony manager that most puts me in mind of watching an ant colony ay work.

Mountains are usually the OP starting place in most colony games. Depending on the game, winters can balance it out a bit because they turn survival into a bitch, but otherwise just generally speaking, they're pretty much a cheese.

The excitement I had when knowing that you have a second channel dedicated to VODs was overwhelming. I loved watching and listening to your longer videos on your main channel before they became shorter. Then KZbin recommended me a Rimworld play through that was 2 hours long on this channel, I nearly danced. Your vids are fun to watch and I love these types of playthru’s that show off different types of sim games.

Wow I'm so glad you got into this game! You are definitely into city builders like most, but this is just MORE than that. This is a damn empire builder of all things, except it's so amazingly intricate how you can go so deeply to building each city! As a city builder player I bet there is a good chance you will like this game! Well if you haven't been already. The only drawback I bet is just how overwhelming it might actually be. Haha well I just kinda jumped seeing you post this, it's just great to think you found the game.

Got interested in this game yesterday after seeing Quill's series on it and was pleasantly surprised you got into it around the same time. Been having a lot of fun with this one as the scope of it seems huge and it runs really well. I hope the devs continue expanding this game because i can see it being one of the best empire management games if its not already.

This game gives me the same feeling I had when I discovered Populous as a kid in the 90s. Something about the vibes, menus, and colors of the game. I remember my mom and I played that game every night - that and Bubble Bobble on our Nintendo lmao This was a hard game to et the hang of. Once I started to learn what everything represented and how it all worked, the game was super fun. I still haven't had my first Total-War level battle, but I'm looking forward to it - it's one of the big reasons I'm playing this instead of RimWorld now. The only grip I have is that you have to bee super zoomed in to see everything represented in their respective sprites rather than the color coded management filter. I with I knew how to make more zoom levels, and make the color-coded mode only available with a button press and not automatically activated when zooming out.

@@IgnisDomini97 I’ve been playing more multi-race cities and although it makes design more complex it certainly adds a lot to economy long term. Also some other bits I’ve learned from recent cities is to build very long warehouses with at least 7x25 for a decent early infrastructure, I like to do two so I can split goods between food and products
@IgnisDomini97
@IgnisDomini97 Жыл бұрын
@@_fiend Typically I find it's better to have one or two "main" races and just acquire the others as slaves (as hilariously unethical as this may be) because you don't need to worry about keeping slaves happy (just obedient). For example, I never bother with having a Dondorian population that isn't just slaves, lol Also, I went through a phase with really, really big warehouses, but as I got more used to the logistics system I actually moved back to using more smaller ones (albeit still quite large), with each typically being specialized (e.g. having small scattered warehouses with 1 crate of each "consumer good" set to fetch in my residential districts) When you do a small number of really big warehouses then you end up needing way more deliverymen
@_fiend
@_fiend Жыл бұрын
@@IgnisDomini97 oh no I usually spread them out, small ones near deposits and work sites to help the flow or resources, and so far my city is doing well with 1/4 split between all the races that aren’t big people. I haven’t played near enough to even scratch the surface, haven’t even been raided, but I have had a riot where 4 people rioted against my massive 200 man army and were trapped within my city walls

@hademvids

A method for money and workforce upkeep is once you have an armed unit of soldiers of around 50, you can build a Garthimi nursery and set your law screen to imprison all Garthimis and set their enslavement rate to 100%. Then you have a workforce perfect for things like mining, farming, or animal husbandry, and a steady income dependent on how many you sell when the slaver comes around. Not the most moral gameplay but I can't find anyone else talking about how effective it is online. At one point a slaver came asking 68k per Garthimi and I sold all 300 of them and make an absolutely insane amount of money that I dumped into gems and made into jewelry to keep inflation from killing my treasury.

This is a great game! It's really all down to supply chains and logistics. Positioning your industries intelligently with the inputs that supply them close at hand in specialized warehouses is the way to do it. I like to build giant workshop complexes with a warehouse in the center and all the crafters that pull supply from it sharing walls with doors into the warehouse. The efficiency gain you get from intelligent construction and managing supply chains will outweigh the additional costs of maintenance from somewhat unwieldy building designs. Kitchens should have warehouses with food attached, for example. Add coal crates if it's a canteen, and you can throw on a bar and add liquor crates later. Watch how supplies flow and identify bottlenecks, while maximizing the services and food variety you can provide. Also you need bigger farms! Edit: With learning bonuses you can really specialize in an industry and get really amazing input/output ratios, that's how you really crank out exports and get wealthy. Find a good industry and specialize in it, and export finished good at a premium, and you can supply exponentially larger populations just with imports alone! ... until something stops the flow of goods in or out of your civ, at least ;)

Well if you are offering, the hunter hut seems very overpowered compared with any other food sources, is the clue that you can kill all the wild animals and so the economy suddenly collapses if you are are relying on the hunter? I made like 3k meat with one hunter hut in a year, while all my fish huts brought me maybe 200.

@@lilnoir4213 ya fishing can be kinda weak and a people sink I personally tend not to do fishing and tax them. As for hunting its strong early but they are killing animals on the map in a range around the hut so they will slowly drop off and eventually stop producing all together. Regarding noise management - palisades are godsend for that purpose. Surrounding your lumberjack (as well as the industrial and military structures) with palisades/walls reduces the noise significantly (and basically eliminates it if you use double-thick palisades). Or you can do it the other way around and surround your living quarters, so that they have absolute peace, but then the rest of the city is noisy, and people are still getting annoyed at it if they walk down the street outside of living quarters.

Fun fact: back in the day the way that bullion(non-ferrous metals; re gold silver etc.) was devalued by inflation was through: 1) lowering of purity(like how Rome would debase their currency) 2) finding and minting more gold ( a good example was how gold from the new world impacted the Spanish economy)

This game has a lot more content than you think. As far as staying power as some have said, it has it already. I've put 60 hours into it, and managed to get to a city population of 4k, mixed race city. The most difficult late game part is being bale to keep your armies supplied. This costs a lot of money, and the more money you make from goods you sell, inflation goes up, plummeting your purchase power for more provisions and equipment for armies. or just buy mercenaries and pay their wages without having to supply them. this is a great game, and I encourage all to at least try the demo, you won't get it down the first run, the best run you'll do, you'll realize when you get to a certain point, that you should restart and do it better, and you do! That's what happened to me at least. Original races mod is awesome.

You will LOVE how much this SIMULATION leans into the mechanics, causes and effects of: - racism (fictional yet biologically based, as there are different humanoids that can not crossbreed) - slavery (also slave revolts) - 4 different religions (and some holy wars within a city) - cannibalism andOr mass starvation (some dislike it les than others) - segregation (mostly to mitigate all of the above) (restricting access to education/bathing/lavatory...) (also turf-wars) - subaltern status (suppressing andOr ignoring minorities of your population, to focus on other strengths, rather than addressing minor weaknesses) - Ancient/medieval warfare, with tribute payments or with sieges, that end up wit the option, to double your population, but all of them are war-captives, optionally to die as slaves or in slightly freer serfdom.. - child labor, optionally without retirement (not that the 15 year old lavatory-worker, that looks like a 50 year old, needs retirement) But for all of that to happen in this game, you would actually let ANY foreign migrants to live in your city, by clicking on "population", instead of denying entry, which you apparently never did. this is fine, keeping your japan-like mono-culture is very valid and beginner friendly). Apparently this game utterly lacks unregistered immigrants, werewolves or vampires (like Dwarf fortress, making immigration more risky). ... you are gonna love all this given the frog-avatar that is obviously a (very weak and stylized form of ) a racist-cartoon-blackface parody-in-disguise 4chan meme, with its big lips, just being green instead of dark brown.

There is not a lot of content? Are you kidding me? This game is already bigger then the vast majority of games who try to accomplish something similar and it gets expanded and improved regularly. It has not a lot in common with Rimworld and plays very different. The battle part is more like Total War and the city building is quite unique with it's mechanics.
