Glory to you for such studious research. Indeed, kids are fragile. I made a race of bloodfeeding aggressive melee specialists who can leap around and are terrified of fire. Aggressiveness leads to more frequent social fights and one incident between two naked 3 year olds ended up with winner losing an arm and an ear...while loser's head got obliterated. But such is life in a savage tribe where kids grow at 600% speed and major cell instability drops average life expectancy to 48, plus skyrockets cancer rates. Overally the amount of new stuff to tinker with in this DLC is awesome.

At one point in my colony there was one of those scaled-up barely-survivable raids. I had one of my children in the back lobbing grenades over the heads of the adults simply because I could not afford for a single one of them to not be shooting. In the days it took to clean it all up, he was regularly wading through piles of corpses and clouds of rot stink. It changed him. After watching his future development into an adult, I'm certain of this.

Love this DLC so far, I think the children are pretty great. It's risky to have them but very rewarding. I just set up a Child Zone area around my base so they never wander too far but can still do some work and play just fine, granted I've only had 2 children so far but neither have died horribly yet. Not even the one who was running out in the toxic wasteland before I set this zone up...

You only need one time of having a kid getting eaten alive by a cougar to realize you need to set boundaries for them or they'll go anywhere.

I like watching your playthroughs ambiguous, I think what got your colony hit hard by the first quadrums was there wasn't an adult, I've gotten lucky with my colony having a few adults, so the 3 kids and one baby who've been raised in the colony are safe underground. If they had to fight or hunt growing up I'd only imagine how long they would've lasted, I have lions, occasional cougars and hyenas roaming the area. I have an issue with chicken overproduction, oh and rotting corpses gives pigs rot lung so you gotta make sure they are hungry when you drop bodies in their pens or they'll get sick from the leftovers sitting out

Thank you for playing through the new DLC and posting the VODs. It has definitely influenced my decision to buy/not buy the DLC. Honestly, from what I'm seeing, this is the DLC that has the least contrivances or dumb/bad features, without being too too overpowered (looking at you, Cannibalist/Masochist ideologies).

I think it'd be cool to see you do a tribal bow and arrow colony in a rift. Maybe with some kind of medieval village or helm's deep kind of place. MAybe you could have an arrow wall, or even some pila throwers maybe. Or install a crossbow mod just for added fun. You could start with a band of misfits in capes and no clothing throwing rocks and using simple bows to an organized mass of men repeatedly unleashing volleys of crossbow bolts. That sort of satisfying archer-overwhelming strategy. And I use biphasic, or dualsleep scheduling. It basically improves everyone's mood. The idea is that each time they come back home from work, they recreate, eat and sleep and nothing ever drops low enough for those three factors to ever (or barely ever) reduce their mood.

As far as I'm aware being married doesn't directly increase the chance of pregnancy. That said, with ideology you can change how socially acceptable it is to engage in lovin' outside of marriage. In the social tab you can also select whether or not you're trying to get pregnant per each relationship, options are 25%, 100%, or 400%.

Actually marriage matters, but it depends on their beliefs. Because you can set your ideoligion so that intercourse is only allowed between married couples, so lovers wont even sleep in the same bed until they're married, even if only one of them has that belief. On the other hand, if you have a love couple, if you go in the Social Tab and click on the heart, you can set their approach to pregnancy, which sets a probability multiplier out of 0.25, 1 or 4
