Fun thing about the RV mods is that they're a separate building that gets spawned usually in the middle of the forest and when you enter the backseat of the vehicle the game teleports you into the building. Which is to say if a map mod isn't working with the RV mod, it's probably because the building the RV mod is trying to spawn is in the same place as the map mod. The only reason I know that is because I had the apocalypse RV vehicle mod and I would keep hearing zombies nearby while inside and could not for the life of me find where the zombies were I ended up going into debug mode where I found out that instead of being in the middle of rosewood, I was actually in the middle of the forest surrounded by a thousand zombies xD

@Roman-ji7iu2 жыл бұрын
So does that mean you could find the real building just out in the wild?
@triopsate32 жыл бұрын
@@Roman-ji7iu yep you can. I actually did end up driving through the forest to the bouse there in the apocalypse RV because I couldn't stand the zombie noises anymore and didn't realize that you could just teleport with dev mode. It ended up taking forever to ram the trees down with the plow on the RV since the house was really deep inside the forest (had to use dev mode to repair the plow after it broke multiple times) and the fact that there was like a billion zombies wandering the forest for some reason didn't help either. But yeah, ended up driving a path through the forest with the apocalypse RV and ran over all the zombies around the house. As for what the house looks like, they're a bunch of units linked in a massive structure. The structure itself is a complete mystery since the guy who made it basically made it one massive black area. Looking from the outside all you see is a few units studded inside black and if you teleport yourself into the black area you can't move at all. As for the units you enter, they're a 2 story unit that has a seemingly indestructible engine with infinite fuel and a bunch of seemingly indestructible water barrels on the roof. The reason I say seemingly indestructible is because I built a staircase to the top of the building to see what was above and forgot to take it down after I left. A day later I enter the RV to hear zombies attacking something so I teleport out to see what it is and to kill the zombies. Turns out the zombies went up my stairs while I was away and got up on the roof to attack the water barrels and generator. Never figured out how long they were attacking the stuff for but the generator was at 100% fuel and condition even after it had been attacked and the water barrels didn't break either. Also, if you have the basement mod, it's basically the same as the RV mod in what it does. The difference is that the room you get teleported to is on the opposite side of the map (far right side of the map) and for some reason the building is floating in the air. That was something I ended up learning by accident when I used a sledgehammer on the ground in the basement and ended up falling to my death.
@Roman-ji7iu2 жыл бұрын
@@triopsate3 That falling out the basement bit is golden lol
@triopsate32 жыл бұрын
@@Roman-ji7iu yeah it's surprisingly common to die out of the blue if you mess with mods in ways they really weren't intended to be messed with. Like for instance, the custom challenges mod really doesn't work well with the RV mod because I'm assuming the challenges will load a default map since I tried to enter the back of an RV during the middle of the prison escape challenge only to find myself teleported into the middle of a massive hoard of zombies in the middle of the forest.

A useful tip for looting little containers inside containers (bags, sewing kit, etc). Just drag the container outside of the loot screen, it will drop on the floor, then you will see the container on the right panel (where you see all containers, corpses etc around you) and you can take what is inside this way and way faster without having to equip the container. Also when you are looting multiple containers around you, you can scroll through the different containers by having your mouse inside the loot screen and MAJ + Mouse wheel.

My hometown was the location of the largest caravan park in Europe. The town itself was a beach tourist town, and then this endless stretch of caravans hastily attached to the side like a tumor, almost doubling the population of the place purely from caravaners during the holiday season. What's strangest is that the owners and operators apparently felt the need to then also remove the wheels from some of the caravans and enclose them in white picket fences with gardens, and then charge more for them. I also went on holiday to the caravan park at one point, I think of it as a right of passage as everyone I know did at some point. They were pretty okay, but at a certain point "coping with it" certainly sets in. Nice for a week or two but wouldn't want to live there full time. Explaining to the foreigners that we were not visiting the country, but had in fact just decided to live in a caravan for a week due to byzantine planning laws meaning that so long as a certain number of locals were using the caravans each year there was some kind of business magic for the owner meaning they were ridiculously cheap for locals, was often strange. You would prompt either total bewilderment or outrage depending on whether you included the information about the business magic. As a consequence the sight of a lone caravan in this series if truly haunting for me. I keep expecting you to stumble upon a forest of them.

Another comment for engagement. I wish video game culture was different, imagine how cool it would be to have a game like this where it's on a server and you take part in an ongoing world where people act like real survivors? And I'm not talking about roleplay but people actually do their own thing and can meet each other, form alliances, grudges etc etc. On a technical level, this is totally possible. But it doesn't happen because every survival game just ends up like DayZ where unless you're with friends everyone just kills each other as soon as they see another person, except in very rare circumstances. I just hate how they always devolve like that. I want a game where it feels like me and the other players are genuinely trying to survive and not just being stupid assholes that camp at places where guns spawn to kill noobs. Without having to restrict PVP or have RP rules, a game where it just naturally functions like you are in that world. Games like DayZ instantly become incredibly boring when you're just wandering around and some guy on a hill just shoots you dead for no reason, we could have had some epic story where we survive together and maybe betray each other for food later but no you just kill someone who didn't even know you were there, how exciting. "That's what survival is lol" people tend to say to this but that's just the dumbest thing, in a world overrun by zombies unless it was an accident you would not just shoot random people, not only are you killing potential allies who could save your life and help rebuild society but you are also ringing the dinner bell for the zombies to come get you, that's just not something an intelligent survivor would do. I just hate that kind of culture around multiplayer survival games, it's just so boring. PVP is super fun too but it's so much better when there's a reason for it. I hope Zomboid will be different since the zombies are typically an actual challenge, it doesn't make sense to kill anyone without a good reason, like if they're stealing your shit.

Yeah, this is why I could never get into them - I don't mind people betraying others, but do it for a logical reason or with some kind of build up that will eventually make long term memories for all involved. Kind of like the EVE Online spy and politicking stuff.

I always just drop the sewing kits on the ground then switch to them from the objects I'm looting, it saves some time and steps/clicks. Also I lived in Louisville for 12 years, definitely spoken Luhaville.

39:46 The way I do it is I drop it on the floor and then take out the needle and thread. Same thing goes for ammo containers.

I'm not sure if you already know this, but you can manually rack/pump your gun if you press 'x' on your keyboard. I think the reason your shotgun doesn't fire sometimes is cause you can accidentally cancel out the pumping action by doing something else mid-action.

hey, if you enjoyed zomboid map-making but feel like you have to keep up the youtube content, i'd definitely watch a series of videos of you talking about your process and journey in doing that

Subtle details make me happy. Travel trailer door on the passenger side. I like that. They paid attention to detail. I used to take breakfast burritos I would make on Sundays for my work week and take 2 to work with me. After doing my truck inspection I would place said burritos on the manifold next to the turbo. Wrapped in foil of course. By the time I left the shop and got to the first wind turbine to service my burritos were perfect. I don't get the van life thing. They're the type of people we call princess from my neck of the desert.

As someone who 'lives' in a van, you don't heat ur dinner on the muffler. much easier to use a Coleman propane tank and little camp stove. Anyway. 2008 Honda Odyssey with the middle seats removed and the back seats down. toss a blow up bed in the back and some regular sheets/comforter and a sleeping back to lay on top for winter and your set. next you put curtains on a a bungee cord and hang em from the oh shit handles in the back to block the windows. little fans for the summer that are powered by usb. we roadtrip around the country. super fun.
