Just read through a few people's anecdotes about living with amblyopia so wanted to add my own piece :). I'm an 18 year old student with moderate amblyopia. I find that my lazy eye is most noticeable when looking at things up close (one eye turns inward) and sometimes turns outwards when looking at things in the distance (interested to know if anyone else out there has this!). I am often told that I am attractive/striking and have family members that tell me my lazy eye just isn't noticeable. However at a time in school I went through a phase of having extremely severe confidence issues around my eyes when my lazy eye seemed to be really bad (Turns out my perscription had changed which worsened my lazy eye- watch out for this!). Anyways since then it's usually been at the back of my mind when facing people and chatting. These worries can be quite distracting and sometimes prevent me from really engaging with people. Whenever I go to optometrists I am told that it is too late to correct my lazy eye. Some have implied that it was a fault of my parents for not patching me properly, I do not know to this day how much they actually did to help and so there is some sense of blame and anger there :/. Of course when I see videos such as this I have hope that I can reduce my lazy eye but I am also aware that I am biased by near desperation to get rid of amblyopia. From what I've read, vision therapy is less effective at older ages but still 100% worth trying (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5490155/). I'm using an expensive, but highly recommended, program called amblyoplay for this and will let you know how effective it was for me in a few months time :). On a slightly sentimental note I just wanted to say to anyone suffering with amblyopia that: 1) you are not alone 2) quite often these things are less noticeable to others than ourselves 3) imao the real sucker of amblyopia is not how it looks to others, but the self esteem issues that may restrict you from wanting to socialise/relax with others. Be brave and when people comment on it try not to take it personally but have humour and embrace it as a unique and special part of the wonderful person you are. Best wishes

Before the exercise it was more of an issue, while holding conversations I’d looking off then look back. Never was a prob with the females BUT I can honestly say I’ve missed a few due to not having enough rest my confidence was crushed. I also learned some docs don’t even care to fix it they just want a yearly visit and to provide the same prescription yr after yr with no change. Early on vision therapy. Living with a lazy eye: I have been told by most doctors and eye specialists that there is no cure and I missed my chance by not wearing my patch glasses until the age of 8. After which it is not possible to improve the condition of the lazy eye. Every few years when I'd read about a breakthrough discovery for vision I would expect and find if there were treatment options but was always disappointed that nobody would give me any hope.. until today'. I have very briefly for patch glasses in junior school and like many kids I didn't follow through and lived with a lazy eye which I feel has been a major reason for not being able to catch a ball till today, hence never being selected or particularly interested in sports, and struggle to play video games . At 34 my handwriting is like a child's and often when there is a flash I picture with a blatantly flashy lazy eye which would frustratingly ruin my photographs. Occasionally whenever tired or under slept or under certain conditions I would become visibly cross eyed and for someone who is said to be photogenic and considered striking with a 6 2 height, I would often be embarrassed Whenever I can see myself cross eyes and would find an angle to speak to people in person or on video call and photos with an angle that masks a full view covering my defects which gave me some serious self esteem issues even more because, without being pompous, it's even harder when you are told that you are good looking with movie star looks, it would be embarrassing to be discovered by someone with a keen eye during sleeplessness etc that my eye was twister... And I' would choose timings to make sure I've gotten proper sleep etc to be able to make a proper impression. Since childhood I've been very facinsted with eyes and would draw them endlessly and I know for sure that I was not able to focus on my classes and lectures and would drift away into day dreaming and lose focus. I had to have extra tuitions and really worked hard to get good grades and eventually graduate with an honours degree In marketing. I stil struggle and need s litte extra effort to totally turn my head for motor activity like driving in traffic and for the longest time was not receptive to routes or ways Living in the same city for 10 years.. I don't think it is attention deficit disorder because for TV music etc I would endlessly watch snd could learn dance and was good at math . But not coordination and when the eyes occasionally get cross eyed I get double vision still but that's not very often. I just kept hoping something would eventually come up despite being told there are very little I can do to help anything. But watching this video today has made my heart weep with joy..and I pray that God helps everyone get access to these advanced treatment models and that every child gets a doctor/eye specialist like the kind soul in this video who explains it so well and thoroughly. I don't know if I will be able to afford it but It has switched on and ignited a new mission for me to further improve my life and focus because this eye problem.clearly impacts my work which is a beautiful mess just like my life. And I always knew in my heart that alignment of the two woudl help me in every way. Becusee when I was very little my aunt noticed that there was something off about my balance and while I manage most things just fine or as efficiently if not more, it has also set me back for tasks that requires both eyes and I need to make an extra effort to always be on par with others with a handicap of sorts but still blend in and try to make the best in my own home made desserts business where I have worked hard to focus and be able to gauge best angles for photography..and choosing the right pics, which gets exhaustingly confusing and jumbled that i need assistance or sleep to better perceive things.. thank you doctor I hope my account helps you research the psychological and social effects of living with ambyology and it's effects on mental health and self esteem .best regards and wishing you peace.

The first 6 and a half minutes of this video I was thinking about how you could develop an app for virtual reality that you could put on the Meta quest store or the PlayStation Store for their new PSVR2. So that was awesome to hear you're already utilizing VR. Hopefully all these months later you're considering a way that people can utilize that all around the world. Because when you said 67% of people experience motion sickness symptoms that applies to the average VR user as well. A training app for your eyes could very well be the number one app in VR out of pure necessity.

But as it stands I can't drive it's terrifying. NIGHT DRIVING‽ FORGET IT! Guess what shift I work... yeah 3rd. I have lost so much weight since this happened 01/21/22 just 1 month ago I have lost nearly 50#s because I get so sick to my stomach I can't get out of bed and my balance is completely off. I bump into stuff that I know is there, I knock things over because they are closer than I thought or I miss them completely ie; the stair rail. Fell halfway down the stairs on my face because the rail was farther away than I thought it was. This is going to sound shallow but I'm so embarrassed by my wonky eye I hide no one is to come over and I go nowhere. I'm at the end of my rope. I hope you can help. PS: I am local.

Nice, you’re close! A vision therapy optometrist will give you lots of tools more effective than pencil push ups to further improve and hold on long term.

Respected sir, I used mobile while leaning on left side for around 4-5 years. Now i noticed that my left eye has become smaller and myopic. I think its Lazy eye (please confirm). The other eye is normal. Depth perception is normal while using both eyes but weaker using any of eyes which i believe is normal. I stopped using mobile in bed now. Will my eyes even out in future ?

Hey! Am having the same problem I also used phone by leaning right and my right eyed got myopic. May i know what is your condition right now. Did you take treatment?
@dancingstar45373 жыл бұрын
@@bgmiatlmch2 No i did not take any treatment. I consulted someone and he said, it might take 4-5 years to even out depending upon how long it has been there. What i'm doing- I'm currently doing some exercises including sheershasan, pressure point of eyes on palm etc. i noticed my eye gets better when i do these as well as when i wake up. I have a printed eye chart on wall to check my eyes regularly. I find fluctuations in vision in that eye. Means it gets better sometimes so that means its not a permanent problem but a muscle problem which can be improved with exercises but it might take time.

One of my eyes is also a bit more closed than the other one. Do you think it's lazy eye?
@alvodin6197 Жыл бұрын
Lazy eye or amblyopia means one eye can't focus, it's blurry. Not same as strabismus.

People are confusing strabismus with amblyopia, even after people clarify again and again. If you have strabismus, sorry about that.

@@sanketsingh794 Listen to this video and do eye exercises at home . Search the internet and read books about them and your'll find them. Even if you don't close both eys give attention to your weak eye while doing eye exercises. This info is valued at hundreds of dollers. There's much more that the doctors won't tell you but you have to look it up because it is possible. Remember you have to believe it. And no you don't need to buy Virtual Reality at home to do the exercises like in this video. You don't need to do that.

Eye patch works fine and helps, to what degree..... I"m not certain as I'm no doctor. But these guys here in the video just want people to fork over the dough for their 'eye therapy'. I feel like sometimes these rich people just want to be richer and refuse to give out free helpful tips to those who are suffering but have limited means when it comes to being able to afford professional care. It's almost like they are trying to steer you away from something that you can do for free..... which 'eye therapy' is, btw. I've seen a few genuinely kind people who just want to help others out and posted videos on eye exercises that they have learned or gathered from these vision therapy doctors. Just do searches on KZbin, there are nice people out there willing to help unlike some 'professionals' who wants their bling bling and Jaguar cars.

The problem with telling a child he needs to wear a patch is that the child is most likely a believer in God, and they believe God is on their side no matter what. This was my mistake now i deal with physical eye and head pain because I was a believer in God, I actually thought that God created people equal and he would protect me. That only led to mental health problems for me as well. Also became antisocial due to this issue

Go back to the Bible. You were born to conquer this not blame God. I know, I did the same thing. He is merciful to forgive and help but we come into this life with a set of circumstances that we are to try and overcome and not blame God while we go through them- not easy I know. But what if you were born that way for a reason ? Like the blind man and the disciples asked, “Who sinned the parents?”and the reply was, “Neither.” He was meant to be that way… hang tough, go back and watch the miracles.

sorry but you are just repeating what you already said about the subject in other videos.... just don't deceive people : there is no solution to recover from amblyopia. Period. Just show me ONE example of a patient who retrieved 100% vison after you BS exercises ...
