My husband and I have a 1995 Freightliner FL60 campulance and we installed a cassette toilet and a full shower and still have room for a queen size bed, full kitchen and dining area. We had an Onan generator but took it out because it was just to loud, we have a smaller one now to run our air conditioner plus we have 400 watts of solar panels that runs our frig., freezer, air fryer, and instant pot, TV and VCR. We absolutely love our fig and get so much attention it gets embarrassing some times LOL. I’m so glad I found your channel.

Great video. That's one of the few extended cab FL60's I have seen. Of all the fire engines I drove, the FL60 was my favorite. Very easy to drive and reliable. I have operated mobile command centers and we would use the onboard generator for rapid setup but later switch to an outboard generator to reduce noise and vibration in the vehicle. It also made us better neighbors to other vehicles and people in the vicinity.

Aesthetic appeal applies for both men and women when it comes to living spaces. Surrounding yourself with beauty improves my mood and lifts my spirit. In most cases, all a nomad needs is to step outside their vehicles to enjoy nature but the inside of the rig should be cozy in case you have to stay inside because the wind is blowing. Awesome video and awesome rig for a 1997, especially with the mechanical 5.9 12 valve Cummins in it. Glad Jim found one with the last of the mechanical 12 valve Cummins. After 1998 the 12 valve was phased out and came the 24 valve. That engine was electronically controlled. Then came the Common Rail version of that engine for 2003. Common Rail is a new term for the later turbo diesel engines, including Volkswagen TDI (which is Turbocharged Direct Injection), Mercedes-Benz Bluetec engines, and the Ram trucks with the later version of the 5.9 Cummins and the current 6.7 Cummins. This version of Jim's Freightliner was optioned with the Mercedes-Benz MBE engines or the Caterpillar engines, not just Cummins. I guess it has to do with the higher up chassis for either engine. I am not too sure about the other newer turbo diesels, and, David, please forgive me if I made a lengthy comment, but just wanted to give you more diesel talk. Thinking of you and Lefty :)

Although he's probably already got a shower working in that cabinet by now, I'll through this out to the viewers to consider. I've seen other ambulance rigs that put the shower in the hallway just after if the cab pass through. The floor pan is cut in under the hallway floor, and a slatted wood grate is set in the shower pan to maintain a level floor. Then shower curtains at the passthrough and the cabinet edge. The plumbing for the shower head is run from a sink that is usually plumbed in on the drivers side cabinet. I've even seen some folks put a toilet in the passenger side cabinet that has a shelf above the persons head for towel and toiletries. I'd love to have a bigger ambulance like that one. I have a 1997 400hp Cummins 12 valve in my 1990 Class A RV that gives me 14 mpg Love that engine... I have an AFC in it so I can turn up the HP to 650 horses if I need to. (Hot Rodded Engine with a hot rodded transmission and re geared rear limited slip differential to go with it) Love to watch Dave videos. One of these days, our paths will cross!

Very nice Freightliner. I suggest using a set of hand commands for Lefty, he never takes his eyes off of you and may be easier to train if you use a set of hand commands for him. One hand is all he needs just the position and what you are doing and he will get it fast. If you are right handed and tend to point with your right hand I would use the left hand and then use whistle sounds if you can do them for distance. Just like kids all dogs are different I may be all wrong, but I have had a few over the years that others could not train and they all could be trained once I was trained to help them.
