Cel anime will always rule in being made by people who can draw and paint. Plus, the medium is preservable that digital content can be deleted too easily.

​@@LuigiTheMetal64 I agree cell animation looks and is superior to to digital animation but no its not easier to preserve. Film and cells degrade over time. Files can be copied and do not not degrade. But yes cells over the digital any day. The craftsmanship of the these old animes is astonishing

@@someuser4166 Hard drives can die out, and it will take time to copy the cels and backgrounds. Toy Story 2 gets brought up since it was deleted, but recovered when a copy was found in a different hard drive. What I did not mention is that cel anime can be worked on when the power goes out.

Looks like cel animation and digital animation, each have their fair share of weaknesses and strengths. With digital having an easier accesses towards tools such as layers, unlimited digital paint/ink/selection tools but way different colors. Cel animation feels more organic and a much more realistic color that feels worn out... well to me. But ya, def Cel anime over digital anime.

as an artist and an anime fan from so far back the media was called 'japanime' before being reduced to just 'anime'[because the japanese thought 'japanime' was insulting] and who has been studying the media for 3.5decades i have to say there is a slight dash of nostalgia but iv been drawing anime style for so long i recognize theres more than a few major benefits to modern animation that oldschool was _never_ going to compete with everyone will have their own opinion but, as a perfect example this clip will suffice. in general the shading is very flat and super saturated which was a good way to keep the audience from paying attention to all the really bad cells thay happened because there was only so much faking perspective and consistency between keys and tweens also i prefer the characters eyes to not look like something out of a bad psychedelic trip for a good part of her closeups Kei is looking in 2 different directions based on the position of her iris ... as an artist when the quality of the work destroys the suspension of disbelief because 'wow how high is she?' comes to mind before anything else i love loads of pre-computer animation western and anime alike but give me the kind of animation quality of a Demon Slayer or Sono Bisque or Eminence in Shadow or Your Name or A Silent Voice any day. hell even the original gits is still an all time fav but compared to gits:sac its only because it was right at the edge of the comp integration that the original can hold up i saw megazone 23pII at a convention shortly after it was smuggled over on vid tape and as much as i loved that story if it were done today by the right studio itd blow anything from the originals era away hands down. also there are anime being done now that are spectacular, land of the lustrous, for example, that could never be done proper with oldschool traditional cell

And the reason we had Dirty Pair Flash was that Kei's voice actress (Kyoko Tongu) retired, and Yuri's voice actress (Saeko Shimazu, who also voiced Shinobu from Urusei Yatsura!) refused to work with anyone else.

The 80s and early 90s was the golden age of anime. The animation was smooth and there was not a lot of cutting corners in productions, even though no CG technology was available. By mid 90s to mid 2000s the production quality dropped significantly.

I see that the animators continued the character style template, from the late 60s on through the 80s. Starblazers/Space Battleship Yamato, had the same character face designs as well.

Cel anime are the best for being made by people who can draw and paint, can be made when the power goes out, and the contents are long-lasting. If you say otherwise, you might as well tell Japan to never have people paint on tanzaku and ofuda ever again. If digital anime is allowed to exist, despite being outdated where updates are needed constantly, cel anime has the right to exist too.
