Just to clarify: The passenger door is actually 4 inches longer, which is roughly 10cm, not 10 inches!

The passenger door was 10 cm longer than the driver's, not 10". Unless I've gone completely bonkers, which is possible! I love these cars.

You're absolutely right, thanks for pointing that out! It was a mistake. The passenger door is 4 inches longer, which is roughly 10 cm, not 10 inches (metric conversion fail 😂). I really appreciate your comment, and I'm glad you love these cars too!

I own and drive a 77 Pacer Wagon. People are always taking pictures and stating how they like the car. You would have thought it should have been a big seller based on reviews. The body design was ahead of the power train technology of the time. If the engine had been powerful with good fuel economy like today’s engines it would have saved AMC.

I do NOT consider the AMC Pacer one of the worst cars ever made. It was certainly different. It stepped outside the box. It was a car that tried to bring its concept car origins into reality. And it succeeded. It wasn't the best vehicle ever made, but it also wasn't one of the worst by a long shot. I'd happily have one as a classic car or as a converted EV in a heartbeat. 😊❤

I noticed them destroying a car like this in an X-file episode a couple of days ago ('invisible symmetry'). I noticed it because I thought it looked cool, and a shame to destroy it.

Suggest looking out there at some of the vehicles on the road currently, including dependability.
@AmeriCarsTV21 күн бұрын
Yes, many modern cars definitely leave much to be desired in terms of dependability, unfortunately. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it! 🚗✌️

Thank you for recognizing my comment. I am a biased AMC fan but do recognize their failings but overall found their designs no better nor worse than their contemporaries. Referring to current designs, there are some "uglies" out there not to mention mechanical/software issues. Stellantis managed to screw up the ubiquitous in-line six :-D .@AmeriCarsTV

I barely see Vegas (likely a motor swap). I never see AMCs anymore. I do still see Pintos, Mavericks, Valliants and Novas....as well as early 70s Mustangs. I haven't seen a Mustang II in many years.

The Gremlin was an absolute POS. Worse than the Pacer by a long shot. Poor handling, unreliable transmission, and the gas mileage while good for the time, it still wasn't as good as small Japanese cars. Finally, the paint which looked good in the showroom wasn't up to the task of protecting the metal in real life.

I never drove a Gremlin, but yeah, their reputation isn’t great, to say the least... 😀 Thanks for your comment!
