There should be 21 Emmy statues on Susan Lucci’s mantle, and not just one. These scenes had me in shreds. It was beautiful to see Erica and Kendall begin to move past their pain and bond as mother and daughter.

Whoh! Those were some powerful scenes between Erica and Kendel. Both of them did an amazing job, and it was nice that despite everything, Kendel was able to be there for Erica, and they were able to talk openly about how they felt about each other and how they wanted to become closer. They both did such an amazing job with the scenes. You could hear and see the fourteen year old girl as Erica relived her rape. The way Erica huddled in the corner after Kendall brought her home was heartbreaking. And I sobbed when she held Kendall afterwards.

One can really appreciate Susan Lucci's acting skills in this scene. Soap stars are always underrated. They have to learn so much dialogue on a daily basis. Not a lot of actors have the skills to be a soap star.

You’re exactly right. She’s a phenomenal actress. Soap actors/actresses don’t get nearly the credit that they deserve. It would take me weeks to memorize 90 pages of dialogue. They do it every single day.

This and the next episode were some of the best the show had in a long time. Brilliant performances by all 4 in them (Susan, Alicia, William, and Eden who was absolutely ROBBED her Emmy for this story)

This was the BEST beginning of a saga on a soap. The night Erica and Kendall finally bond and have a breakthrough that begins their relationship, Bianca is experiencing Erica's flashback on her own. Wow!

Alicia Minshew IS Kendall. She excelled at showing the layers of the character. This scene would not have been nearly as good with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Okay, I get what Kendall was going for here, but honestly the last thing you want to do is restrain someone in the middle of a flashback. You could really get hurt. Great acting though. This was the defining moment for Kendall and Erica's relationship all the way.

This is similar to when Erica was on the stand recounting her rape and they cut scenes with her elderly rapist trying to rape Bianca. Now, we have Erica disassociating and reliving her rape with Bianca actually getting raped. I just wish Bianca had handled it better than Erica; that is, reporting it, having a rape kit done, and successfully prosecuting her rapist. But soaps are about drama; not handling problems logically.

fwdthinker Well anytime there was a storm Erica’s PTSD from her rose would kick in...triggers are very powerful things. Part of the reasoning I think Bianca did NOT report it at first is because a) she saw the impact Erica’s rape had on her (Erica) and Bianca did not want Erica to relive that all over and b) a lot of women sadly do NOT report when they’ve been raped (usually because they don’t want to believe they were actually raped and/or they don’t want to have the “stigma” of the word attached to them)

.....once erica dealt with what richard did and that her father set it all up just so richard would make eric's movie, then erica was able to look at kendall and see her for who she was and not how she came to be. erica immediatly set out to be "super mom" to kendall after that...1st thing she did when she got out of rehab was meddle in kendalls love life trying to set kendall up with ryan whom she believed was perfect for her. lmao.

Man Erica was out for her head it was a time Erica was just as protective of Kendall as Binks.

Quentin Coleman yes! I don’t believe a mother could love a daughter more than Erica Kane loves Kendall Hart. Kendall once said that was all she ever wanted from Erica: the loving the caring the concern, yet when she did, she drove Kendall CRAZY! Lmao 😂 and I watch all the old clips of Kendall played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and how they HATED each other then I think about them now and how Erica simply ADORES Spike! And Spike thinks Erica hung the moon!

@@greenlee7smythe Back in 1993 I don't think Erica could've truly handled the truth that it was her father that set up the whole rape. Yes, I know they reconned it because they needed Erica to confront his ghost in 2004. But right before Kendall came to town back in 1989 Erica took Bianca to the circus and that's where she found her father working as a clown. When he came back to her life, he tried to make things right. But he ended using her, stealing from her and then casting her away. But before the Kendall storyline happened. When you watch the scenes between him and Mona, there was always an underlying anger. Now was that Mona's own anger at her husband abandoning her and Erica, or did Mona know something more. She knew about Richard Fields raping Erica but I don't think she knew Eric set it up.

@Pinkranger87 it's kind of hard to explain. I came in a couple seasons after this so i dont really know that much about this season. But, i do know that what richard did to Erica made her a Schezophrenic among other things which explains why she is so frightened by storms.

AMC was always a shit show but just gained enough following to remain on LOL Like there's a reason Sarah Michelle Gellar won an Emmy before Susan Lucci. It's because that was show's first storyline to shift it in another direction. And then after you never really saw anything like it again.
