⁠@@shannonspage9360 Spoiler there was a reason why Lestat did what he did. . . . . . Lestat was in a weakened state after the attempted murder. In the books Armand starved and was mind manipulating him. In the series version id say there’s mind manipulation going on- that’s why at certain points Lestat looks like he’s dissociating and blanking out. It also explains his sudden breaks and outbursts and not following the script. Lestat did love Claudia. Whether it became more obvious after her death or if he’s always know it. And the tragedy of it is that he has the rest of his life to regret the wrongs done by her. Anne writes about it in her books. Claudia haunts him like a ghost.

As much as I was initially against the huge number of changes to the book, I have to this is one of the best adaptations and most well done series I have ever seen. Is it the book? No, but movies /series *adaptations* never are. But the spirit of the books, the character and detail and deep emotional angst that made me love the series (or at least love the first 3 books dearly and like some -but not all - of the later ones) is definitely there and amazingly realized. The lead actors for Louis, Lestat and Claudia are not in,y excellent and truly bring their characters to life (ironic given they are undead Vampires!) but even the supporting cast is truly amazing! Armand, Daniel, and especially the Theatre des Vampires which Santiago is utterly captivating and deliciously evil and spiteful and you hate him but love watching him because he’s such an entertaining character! Even parts that weee barely developed in the books like Madeline are brought to stunning real being. Truly an excellent series. I’m so glad it got renewed for Series 3 and The Vampire Lestat Book will be done. Despite some aspects of the book series being changed, some drastically so, the actor that plays Lestat is like the book Lestat just swirled his velvet cloak and stepped into the real world. Can’t wait to see his story brought to life, and I swear I got chills when He mentioned Akasha! The rather bizarre Movie take of “Those Who Must Be Kept” where their ancient clothes bizarrely turned stone-like along with their ancient skin (What???) will finally get a more realistic portrayal with the series here,and I have no doubt it will be FANTASTIC! I can’t wait!!! Don’t let the changes turn you off, This is one to check out and once you get past your natural reaction of “Hey, that wasn’t how it was in the books!” You will soon find yourself immersed in a world as alien and shocking but as intensely alluring and enveloping as possibly any series I’ve ever seen. Well done AMC! please keep this series going at the very least for the complete 2nd & 3rd Books to be transformed into sumptuous and enthralling series that we got with the 1st Book “Interview with the Vampire”! Amazing!!!
