I was so mad when Maria came back and ruined Edmund and Brooke. We had been waiting 9 years for them to get back together only for St Maria of Wildwind tending to the sick and the needy in her push up bra came back.

Ugh, I know. Not only do they bring BORING Maria back, but then the writer's had Edmund treat Brooke in such an ugly manner- as if she was nothing to him. Horrible. Edmund's character was destroyed and Brooke's character just got left on the wayside. AMC really messed up.

@@deuxjournalistes2993 Edmund became sanctimonious like Maria. He ran for office! He became such a 1-dimensional character. You know, I remember when Dimitri and Maria slept together. I think it was Soap Opera Digest that pretty much defended Maria, and felt the little saint was still such a lovely, innocent character that could do no wrong (they defended Dimitri too). I recall the same magazine, and others, trashed Brooke for sleeping with Pierce, an unmarried man who had no ties at all to Pine Valley, because they felt Brooke slept with Janet's 'man'! Though Pierce was never fond of Janet that way. The magazines always pimped Maria and Edmund. ABC did too. They touted Maria/Edmund the AMC darlings, though their characters' entire first storyline consisted of Edmund still being in love with Brooke and Maria being angry about it, and knowing she was his 2nd choice. THEN, they had a spectacular wedding! No wonder Edmund/Maria crumbled so badly.
