Afmf looks promising, it worked nicely in some games . AMD has to put in some more work, even fsr 3 frame generation had a rough launch. Afmf getting disabled automatically for x reason results in a sluggish motion , probably why amd recommends not using afmf with competitive games.

Even when games are running at 720p you can use fsr to update it in rdr2 I used 720 before used fsr and ultra graphics and it looked amazing on the small screen

No, waiting is a waste of time. Just use the latest amd gpu drivers. Been using my assembled pcs for 20 years now, use the drivers directly from the manufacturer .

I wanted to try out those drivers myself but for me they were super unstable and few games that I care about just crashed. Rolled back to ASUS supported one's and it's all good. I wonder if it had something to do with a fact that I use handheld companion instead of armoury crate

That can happen but yeah most of my games are working fine so some other app may be causing a problem due to the incompatibility.

Fsr3 mod with frame generation is 200% better. This afmf has tons of flaws yet, in the video looks like it's really smooth but in reality it stutters a lot if you have fast movements onscreen.

Mixed results in games. I did observ the sluggish behaviour in some games as well, frame generation dynamically gets disabled during a quick motion to "preserve the image quality". In last of us, it even reduced the overall performance. Even fsr 3 frame generation had a rough launch, things may get better in the future.

Afmf hotkey is alt + shift + g, I just open adrenaline by pressing alt + r and manually enable afmf. You can map these keys to backgrip button if you want.

yeah afmf only works with dx11 & dx12 titles . Additional Performance stats can be added from adrenaline settings .

Lsfg tries to double the fps at all times, offers a consistent experience for the most part but there can be some graphical artifacts. Afmf also tries to double the performance but often falls flat as it dynamically disables frame generation during fast visual motion, inconsistent experience. Don't know much about legion go, Ally's battery life is pretty average. It's all about high performance on a handheld. With the 25 watts power profile for the apu, ally draws around 40 watts of total power, you'll get a playtime of around 1 hour on a full battery. If battery life is your priority, getting a steam deck oled would be better but then you'll lose out on the performance.

Are you sure your games are running in direct3d 11 or 12 apis? You can use msi afterburner to verify this. Afmf only works in dx11 and dx12 games.

On rog ally? Make sure games are running in fullscreen mode. Try switching between different display modes, borderless/fullscreen

Game should use these api, check pcgamingwiki for this info. Old games use dx9 / dx10. Some new games use vulkan api.

@@hamdanrazak9830afmf v1 isn't compatible with vulkan, afmf v2 works with it though. Make sure the game supports dx12 if you're using afmf v1

@@hamdanrazak9830 Go to this path/location : Documents/Rockstar Games/Red Dead Redemption 2/Settings/. There should be a system.xml file here. Open this file with notepad, and try changing the API value in this file, change it from Vulkan to DX12.

I can try but frame generation isn't ideal on 60 hz display with no vrr. I have already shown lukefz's far frame gen mod running on deck lcd. It doesn't have the smoothness that ally shows.

Click on the notification bell icon in amd adrenaline software, you need to give uac permission in order to enable the performance metrics in adrenaline. Afmf works if its status is active.

I've used Lossless Scaling and AFMF on Duckstation and Retroarch. There is a registry file that can enable frame gen on dx9, OpenGL and Vulkan, which is great since most newer emulators use Vulkan.

I used consoles 15 years ago , eventually switched to pc , never going back. Consoles are good for casual gamers / kids but the games are very expensive and paying for online multiplayer sucks. Ally is my handheld of choice and PC is my main platform.

25 watts mode can be used on battery, just don't use the turbo profile. Create a custom profile with all 3 power values set to 25 watts. It will keep temperatures in check

Actually ASUS rog ally has no performance issues. Whatever the game I throw in . It plays at 60fps without a sweat.. but battery life is my concern.. I m good at 45fps and battery is little improved upto 2hrs easily
