Just like Nvidia, AMD is also using the same fab node as the previous gen. TSMC even advertises their 4nm node is just an enhanced version of 5nm used on the previous 7000 and rtx 4000 series. So price performance will likely be quite similar to the amds last series.

@@AthleticHobo-br4qh RDNA 3 was modular chiplets mixing TSMC N5 (5nm) and N6 (7nm) on the same die, primarily the later (7nm). As in 1x 5nm module and up to 6x 7nm modules. That's why RDNA 3 barely made performance gains over RDNA 2 (N7 7nm). AMD is now using the same TSMC N4 as Nvidia 40/50-Series. New node, better node and the whole GPU die is N4 5nm so there is potential for big performance gains per watt.

@@AthleticHobo-br4qh There is a small hope for Amd to have bigger gains, cause they went back to monolitic die for RDNA4. There were reports that RDNA3 had lower performance, cause of hardware bug in chiplet design. But we will see, what they did.

I think that all this has been their kneejerk reaction to the pricing of the 5070 and 5070ti. It depends on the actual performance of the 5070 and 5070ti vs the 9070 and 9070xt. The whole thing the snake leather coat said about the 5070 being the equal of the 4090 threw everyone off with that pricing until the dust settled showing that snake leather coat dude was very much full of shit. I think that if AMD can place their two cards between the 5070ti and 5080 for performance with pricing that is slightly lower than the two, then they should have a decent win.

The fact that they wasted so much time during CES2025 on BS you could say in 10 minutes, the fact that there were AIBs with 9070XTs on the floor, the fact that there was and still is not date for rDNA4 presentation clearly shows that AMD heard some rumors about Nvidia, shat their pants in fear and pushed whole thing 2 months.

That's only under the lens of big sillicon improvements gen over gen, which didn't happen this time, and won't happen until 2nm. It's all about perception, and perception of value, but we all know that doesn't matter anyway when they sellout in literally 5 minutes and immediately shoot up to twice their price in the second hand market. At the end of the day the MSRP is not the price the market will actually put on these cards. AMD might sell out too just by virtue of having their cards in stock at MSRP, something Nvidia is unable to do.

Last year's rumors / "leaks" about RDNA being ready to launch as early as Q3 2024, and only waiting for Nvidia to come to market, where probably hype-building BS. More likely, the drivers were nowhere near mature and stable at CES, much less in Q3 2024, and AMD is now taking the extra time to just get them done. This also gives them an opportunity to include FSR 4 from the get-go, and compare their products to the 5070 & 5070 Ti once these are properly reviewed and benchmarked. It is an entire sack full of benefits to be weighed against shelving the physical units for two months.

About the DLSS 2 FSR wrapper: it would be very interesting if you could investigate on why there are no unofficial wrappers for popular games such as Indiana Jones - I played Alan Wake on a 3070 TI using DLSS + FSR3 and it ran pretty well, but for Indiana Jones and Returnal I could not find anything to add FSR 3 frame generation - maybe it's just me. But anyhow: it would be interesting to see if Nvidia is lobbying game devs to implement very aggressive techniques to detect which DLSS options should be available to the user, rather than just trusting what the DLL reports as available.
@fpgamemearray
@fpgamemearray 5 сағат бұрын
i don't think nvidia cares about the wrappers and mods, as long as you don't reverse the dll files. They achieve vendor lock-in by making DLSS omnipresent in games at launch day. The majority of PC players don't want to tinker with file swaps and mods, they much rather spend more to get the nvidia experience without the fuss. nvidia can just bully the competition by "sponsoring" 10 titles to 1 that either amd or intel is sponsoring. Then you get situtations like the latest indiana jones game: runs great on all recent gpus, but still hasn't implemented vendor indipendent upscalers (FSR and XeSS 1) nor has path tracing available for non-nvidia cards (despite a CVAR called r_allowpathtracingnonnvidia in the game) it's just hairworks and tassellation all over again but this time people actually care about the nvidia-specific features

They are going to have a hard time selling AI chips, and investors are freaking.

I would love for AMD to provide proper competition, but because of past performance and features, no one will buy them without them being bottom of the barrel prices, which clearly AMD can not do and gamers will not purchase. This will continue this gen too. Not to mention, rumor is UDNA is next year, so why buy this tier of GPU from them when better cards are only a year away? AMD will have to deliver a generation that is not only WAY cheaper but WAY better than Nvidia offering in every single way (AI, upscaling, frame gen, image clarity, features, etc) for people to start believing in them at all. What chance do they have?

Having experienced DLSS 4 yesterday (anyone with a 2000 series or above can force it on by updating your nvidia app and drivers, then in the per game settings select DLSS override and set it to Latest) I'm *needing* every GPU and console to have access to this yesterday. It solves everything. It just looks so good. It's crisp and clear and I'm finally able to stop seeing DLSS / TSR / TAA as a tradeoff because now it just objectively looks better than anything that I could do without them, and MSAA doesn't solve things that DLSS 4 can like chain link fences viewed from even a modest distance of like 20 feet away. Idc if it's AMD or Intel, stick a bunch of Tensor cores in your APUs, GPUs, and Consoles - I'm not accommodating folks without access to DLSS 4 when they complain about ghosting or smear or boiling and so on - at this point that's a *choice* that *you* make with your next GPU purchase. You don't get to blame me for what your GPU can't do when there was an option. You weighed rhe decisions and made one. Don't choose not to have DLSS 4 and then complain that your DLSS 2 equivalent antialiasing solution is dog water. I'm happy to celebrate that you're supporting a diverse market where any trust fund clown with no aspirations or expected success potential can be a gpu designer - we can pretend that their existence affects pricing in any way with Cousin Jenson, but at this point I'd argue that buying Intel is the only competition that matters, and by kicking out Pat I'm a bit worried that their ability to form and act on long term plans are TikTok brainrot levels. So imo? We just force Nvidia to be a monopoly and then break them up :)

but good thing that i can't believe MSI dodge the bullet this time by skipping entire AMD madness of their owned doing, they know AIBs gonna get sued by retailers now who still stick around with AMD to last minute changes resulted everyone getting frustrated with the company when its not only name scheme changes, price changes after the fact AIB's already sold to retailers full price more than last minute asking price its why amd scramble to software driver hack on bad poor chip that its 64 compute units barely can run 1440p and trying to match 4080 by software tweeks would results higher power draw and higher temps with unstable clocks aren't meant for rdna4 architecture

Because they work as a team against gamers. Money money . Guess why AMD delayed their gpu release ? Look at the prices now, it was all planned between them.

its why amd miss only opportunity that could had topple highend nvidia gpu's by not cancelling rdna4 atleast 100 compute shaders would beat any 5080 and still 25% close to 5090 if that was case when AMD didn't know NVIDIA next moves when NVIDIA using tik and tok method of updating architectures. The same strategy that work well for intel cpu's to confuse your opponents with fear of architecture improvements that youtubers did well in predicting false on rtx50 series percentage jump got amd spook badly to force themselves cancel high end. To me Its AMD fault for not have any confidence themselves as intel did for gpu. Least intel wasn't scared of anyone, they just release it anyway, why not amd do the same ?

AMD has a last chance to prove they are serious about their cards. Failing _now_ will end AMD GPUs. Looks like 549 USD for the 5070 will be another fake fantasy price. MSRPs are useless.

@@OG-JakeyThis is a little complicated, but Intel isn't superior yet. As other pointed out, Arc is on good path, but under perform in comparison to their die size. It is like 70 class card with performance of 60 class. Their margins aren't great (probably still with profit). As for RDNA3 they weren't bad, they did screw up with naming and pricing for sure. But they still have good price to performance ratio.

Can you believe a youtube channel about gaming and technology prefer the brand that is miles ahead of the other company. It's amazing how they like the company that has better image quality with their upscaling and does ray tracing alot better. They also prefer the company that's always innovating. Shocking hey?

How does AMD catch up? Maybe AMD being better with Deepseek shows the way. Caught up to Open Ai/Chat GPT in machine learning and shocked the world. There’s also the machine learning AMD is working on with SONY for UDNA/PS6. What else can NVIDIA do going forward is also a question. RADEON is dealing with the SRAM issue with chiplet designs, similar to how they took down INTEL dominance in CPUs with Ryzen. What is NVIDIA going to do? Stagnate, overcharge, act like a monopoly; all like Intel did when they controlled the cpu market. Maybe history repeats.
