Nvidia's CEO had a phone conference discussing how they will artificially keep GPU prices of the previous gen relatively expensive despite being two years old and a new gen about to release. See the video from Jayz Two Cents where he breaks down the recording and the implications of what is being said.

That's a great decision by Nvidia if they want to drastically limit their sales. I can either buy AMD or if they are doing the same wait a few more years for a new graphics card. I have a couple of friends that already switched to consoles, I can also do the same. A fasttrack to losing most of your customers when you offer a product that is completely uncooperative (compared to consoles). Then when there is no new crypto boom they will blame gamers for not buying GPUs. They have been blaming gamers and gamers have been buying very few GPUs since the 10 series. Nvidia either has to go back to the price structure of the 10 series or they will suffer badly with sales a few times lower then in that era.

I love how these manufacturers are pricing gear as though we're not in a recession. I remember when a motherboard was almost the least expensive part in a system. These days they're damn near more expensive than the CPUs you put in them. It kinda makes sense, but I miss the salad days, lol. The Nvidia high end price drops, and mid-end increases tells me all I need to know about them relying on miners buying their cards in bulk. Most normal gamers are completely ok with having a 3060 (Ti) in their systems, and don't really care about having the most expensive/powerful e-peen cards they can get. Them raising the prices on those cards tells me just how much of a huge margin they were selling the high end cards for. Personally, I have no pity, nor sympathy for Nvidia. They continue to wear their greed on their sleeves, and now those sleeves are also laced with fear because people are speaking with their wallets. I think one of those autographed GPUs should be put in a natural history museum with a picture of Jensen Huang, and the definition of hubris, with the description "Nvidia, the company that abandoned it's customers in the service of greed." on a display card for the world to see.

Since CPU didn't get price increase the difference went into the motherboard (maybe the chipset? so it's AMD faults?)

"going low end" would not be a x670 board but instead a b650 and those will start at 125$ (according to AMD). Not to mention x570 boards are discounted (even if only a little) so looking at the cheapest listings for x570 isn't a really fair comparison given that their launch prices were cheaper, yes, but not by that much

Im still laughing @ AMD . Remember Jays 2 cent advice: Where is the problem? What do I need? Is it worth it? - if the answer is a clear NO other is no need 4 panic. let these companies realize then jump on ur fav platform that works 4 you.

PCIe 5.0 switches are *not* cheap for one, and DDR5 requires stronger signaling. It would be more appropriate to compare these prices to Z690 DDR5/PCIe 5.0 boards than X570 which used DDR4 and PCIe 4.0.

Today on Newegg, you can buy awesome Gigabyte X570S boards for $230 (Aero G) or $280 (Master)... if you don't want/have thousands for a build...

If you on a R9 chip already then you don’t need to upgrade for quite a while like me I’m running a 5900X by the time I go to AM5 and Zen4 the 8000 series CPU’s may be out i don’t see the point in upgrading until you actually need to or something dies on you

So I don’t know of 1 single retailer selling the Nvidia Founders Edition here in Sweden. Same thing with the 20-series, it too wasn’t widely (or unwidely for that matter) available for purchase either. At least not at any of the medium to big retailers that I checked all thru it’s life cycle. Which is perhaps not THAT big of a deal but I just don’t understand why Nvidia would opt to have their own model together with all the AIB models. Sure Sweden is a comparatively small market but it’s far from poor and a consumer base that I would say is not only able but willing to buy new tech. It’s weird isn’t? 🤔 Well…come to think of it there we’re no price increases by the retailers during the entire GPU shortage which is likely to mean there’s laws against price hiking. I would gander to say over half of the GPU purchased at a retailer instantly went on the auction sites. Makes sense Nvidia would target their FE cards somewhere else seeing how the FE model was at least $200 cheaper than any AIB card. But still…

Forgetaboutit! The manufacturers have increased performance and pricing, but, 99% of PC users do not NEED any of this nextgen hardware. I will hang on to my setup for three of four more years and see what shakes out at that time. Ryzen 5 5600X, Asus ROG STRIX B550-F mb, Crucial Ballistix 32 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory, EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB FTW3. This setup far exceeds my day-to-day usage and gaming at 1440p. I see hard times for manufactures due to lack of sales going forward. Aside from bleeding edge people, very few need the latest.

Now I hope R* will update soon RDR2 with FSR2.1. I love the iPhone 14 Pro pill cutout with those animations. AMD should fire that guy who came with the idea of this new naming scheme for laptop CPU's.

“We’ll discuss the official unveiled UNPRICING….” Brett got it right the first time there lol. Well, these prices are just sad. Not just mobos but potentially DDR5 RAM and Pcie 5 ssds. The only thing they have officially unveiled here is that “budget” gaming is no longer part of the product lineup. Maybe I’ll wait for the B650 chipset to arrive, and hope that at least it could be “affordable” but not necessarily cheap.

Please no one blame AMD on the mobo prices.... at launch they are just doing a whale pricing because supply will be limited (honestly supply for a new platform won't be fully stocked probably until march which is generally a seasonal thing as well as being after CES for marketing) the AIB partners shot themselves in the foot though... i remember they worked closely and AMD even said the design of x670 is actually cheaper than x570 to make due to how they designed it.....

*leans on my cane* Back in the 1990s and early 2000s ... we had TDMA and the phone was sim-chipless. Apple is pushing us back to that. e-sim sounds good on paper, but what happens when a carrier says "oops, we locked the e-sim and it can only be used on our network."?

Is it price gouging... I can't understand the market. Probably got 500$ itx boards as well smh.

man listen ill bother with new gen mobo with the ddr5 and what ever ryzen is out at the time of purchase within maybe 3-4 years. atm i own a 3900x and my goal is to upgrade my 1080 ti for a top line gpu in the coming months. my second priority depending on the possible bottle neck of my 3900x with my new gpu would maybe be to get the 58003d within maybe the next 6 months or so. aside from that let the Rich boys have at it. :)

anyone who buys into these motherboards is just going to make these problems worse in the future, these motherboard prices are absolutely insanity. Literally the price of mid tier GPU's...GPUS!!!!! We need to complain about these prices with our wallets, not our words. Dont buy them and the prices will fall.
