My dream school I graduate high school in the year 2021 I’m actually so excited but nervous because I’m from Florida never been to New York but it’s exciting *UPDATE:* I did get accepted in December 2020 but I can’t afford to go to the school anymore don’t worry I’m not giving up on performing arts. AMDA alumnus here. I suggest you start practicing now. Read the classics. In fact, read as many plays as you can get your hands on. Take up yoga, immediately. Start developing your vocal skills (articulation, projection, etc.). Read up on Stanislavski, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, & Meisner. Doing these things will make it less of a shock when you get thrown into the hustle and bustle. Good luck!

If you are accepted, you will study all of that and so much more. It’s the most rigorous training experience of my life; I lovingly refer to it as Broadway Bootcamp. The things you can learn there and the experience are well worth it. You’ll build lifelong connections to both students and staff. It works if you work it. Start exercising your mind and body, now. Because I’m not kidding when I say it’s hard to tough it out. There were times when I didn’t think I was going to make it, and many others didn’t. Just keep honing your craft. Read plays (classic, Greek, contemporary), familiarize yourself with acting methods, learn the big names, & develop a thick skin.
