@Altitudes16 күн бұрын
Not far in but on the epistemology/objective reality issue it always has to be pointed out that there may be things you need to posit in order to investigate the world, but that doesn't make them true. You could go as far as to grant that a belief in God is necessary in order to have a coherent epistemology and still not be granting that God exists.

I may be wrong but is his argument this? P1 autonomous epistemology uses their senses to reason P2 using their senses to reason presupposes their senses are reliable P3 presupposing their senses are true is unjustified circular reasoning. C. If people who use autonomous reasoning are using unjustified circular reasoning to trust their senses. It would make their reasoning viciously circular.
@scottevans109617 күн бұрын
He doesn't have an argument. It's all interrogation based on the presupposed infallibility of his assumptions. The goal is to dismiss non theist "vicious circularity" and claim victory for theist "virtous circularity" through divine revelation. It's childish rhetoric.
@vex166917 күн бұрын
It's more like: P1 Autonomous epistemology uses sense data as justification. P2 The reliability of sense data is justified by autonomous epistemology. C Autonomous epistemology is fully justified. Criticism: The argument is circular. Yeah, badly worded. Too tired for precise wording. But if you break it down, his argument is just: "You can't solve the problem of hard solipsism."
@marcuskissinger384217 күн бұрын
The conclusion Amdir was looking for was not even a conditional.
@jasonblackmore890417 күн бұрын
@vex1669 that's interesting. So he's affirming that autonomous epistemology has justified reasoning via sense data. He's just saying he dismisses that because he believes it's circular reasoning but vicious in nature and thus can't be used. Is that right?
@vex166917 күн бұрын
@@jasonblackmore8904 Not quite. I think he says that the epistemology justifies using sense data, while sense data justifies the epistemology, those both are ultimately unjustified, because said justification is circular. Kinda like the truth of the bible being justified by the existence of god and the existence of god being revealed by the bible.
