Amebix found me in around 1987, bought this single & many others. None really touched me like this one. Bought an old leather jacket from Birmingham market & painted my favorite band names on it. Proud of place of course was this cover. Also I swore I would never drive a car & always stuck to motorbikes, I used to sing this in my head when I was frozen & wet on my bike. Good memories good music daft bloke!

Great upload, and excellent track from Amebix. Also, side note: this is where the death/doom band Winter supposedly got their name.

can someone explain what is going on with the cover?
@slimchance8934 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure but it looks like a couple monuments with a track/road between them. A metal band from PHX called Sea of Deprivation borrowed this image for their full length.

i love the 2016 opinion on the musical work of a band in a non-internet... hell.... barely digital age... hahaha your opinion is duly noted... as irrelevant. Amebix were groundbreaking as an influence for an entire era of punk and metal.
@goblinzits5 жыл бұрын
@@FulcrumsEdge Both bands existed at the same time, in the same country so it's not crazy to think that there was at least a hint of influence on Amebix. Killing Joke had broad appeal and was pretty influential on lots of 2nd wave UK and Anarcho bands. Lots of pics of punks and bands back then have them wearing KJ shirts and logos painted on jackets. I bet if you asked Virus, Baron, Stig, etc. they would have been fans of the first 2 KJ albums at least. I'd say the same thing about Motorhead as well being an influence, especially on the "Right to Ride" demo Amebix did in 1987.
@FulcrumsEdge5 жыл бұрын
@@goblinzits I know KJ had an influence on Amebix, a major one. I also know that Amebix has had a much greater influence in underground music than the og commenter is giving them credit for, in both the metal and punk scenes. I take no issue with KJs influence on them, only about the og commentor's irrelevant opinion their supposed "late to the party boringness".
@mogshade665 жыл бұрын
@@FulcrumsEdge Yes I know a number of people from traditional crust bands who cite KJ as a major influence. There's also Hellhammer/Motorhead/Celtic Frost/Voi Vod. But largely KJ 😊
