Modigliani! Seems to be painting from his heart not just his eye. His intentional emphasis on compositional structure, his intentional addition and subtraction of various pictorial elements seems to reinforce this observation of a true genius and master. Viva Modigliani!!

Behind the famous elongated necks and intense gazes of his portraits, lies a tormented soul. Amedeo Modigliani, the cursed artist who revolutionized 20th-century art, left us a legacy of sensuality and mystery. But who was the man behind the canvases? Discover his story, his passions, and his tragedies. #Modigliani #Art #History #Painting
@gloriahanes64904 жыл бұрын
BEFORE HIS TIME: Modigliani created masterpieces of his own design, elongated neck, pupil-less eyes, angular faces, with the nude body in realistic proportion. Picasso created works to sell, wherein Modigliani created works of his choosing whether they would sell or not, there lies the difference between these two men. Modigliani today would be considered a modernism artist/painter. He truly was ahead of his time, a true genius!

Some of these are among the most moving paintings I've seen. Mystical. I may be wrong, but he seems to be much more appreciated by laypeople than by art "connoisseurs". I suspect he isn't regarded more highly by the latter on account of his classical leanings.

Young Oskar Kokoschka painted plenty of pictures. In all his work, he used only hidden markings, which can also be seen in the photographs of the paintings, mainly using a computer. Since I am researching Kokoschka images with my own methods, I found a shocking thing: almost all of Modigliani's paintings contain the hidden markings and monograms of the Austrian painter! I found a lot of similar paintings among the paintings of Matisse, Derain, Manguin, de Vlaminck, Cezanne, Soutine, Edvard Munch. This is incredible, but a mistake is out of the question!

BORN BEFORE HIS TIME: Modigliani's paintings herald portraits of elongated necks, pupil-les eyeballs, and angular faces. The nude paintings were so realistic until you reached the angular face with the odd shaped eyes and unrealistic facial features. Modigliani did not want to be a realist painter, he created (his) own signature style. Amedeo Modigliani was a modernism artist/painter born before his time.
