Is the Amel 50 Ultimate shorthanded sailboat, We think it's one of the best center cockpit sailboats out there. Amel has a reputation for building one of the best and safest shorthanded sailboats. The Amel 50 is arguably one of the best thought-out modern sailboats we have visited this year.

After watching Delos for years I don't get how anyone would want to helm the other brands completely aft out in the elements!!! The cockpit on the Amel's is genius... let alone the layout is perfect on the new 50 and 60... single handed sailing masterpieces!!!

Hi Paul, I think it has more to do with money on most brands and easy sailing for weakened sailors. We love Delos and it was watching them that reawakened my love for sailing and sailboats.

The Amel 50 is top of my list. Really like the protected cockpit. It has the best engineering room in class. The no maintenance decking makes caring for the boat a breeze. Top shelf interior. What's not too like.

This is my dream boat, I’m maybe a little concerned about the unprotected twin rudders. But otherwise the layout and features of this amel are a perfect blue water cruiser

This is by far my favorite blue water cruiser. Iconic brand for many reasons, the 50 hits it home in so many ways. Interesting to hear that 150hp engines are being fitted - current owners maybe asking for more power? Nice video given the time you had on the boat. Where did you film it? These are beautiful boats, and anyone sailing on an Amel is indeed lucky. That said, sometimes I want to casually recline aft, under the sky, while I steer my vessel with a hand on the wheel. I can't imagine spending all my at watch time on a long passage sitting and driving. Am I the last sailor who actually enjoys the elements? God, I hope not.

14:11 the plastic window seems scratched. That would be really annoying looking out a scratched window as you sail around the world . I wonder if there is a way to polish those window scratches out professionally?

@@SVTONICBoatWives Yes I have, but I was listening to Dick Beaumont and that has raised many doubts in my mind of what should be classed as a blue water cruiser.

@@umairwaheed3196 Dick does bring up some good points but there are many different ideas in what makes a good bluewater sailboat, Amel has a long history of constructing safe, well constructed bluewater boats. If money was no option I would buy one in a heartbeat or a Hallberg Rassy or, well there are many out there but the Amel is special;)
