The Meg is a 2018 science fiction action film directed by Jon Turteltaub from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, and Erich Hoeber, loosely based on the 1997 novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten.[3][1] The film stars Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, and Cliff Curtis. In the plot, a group of scientists encounters a 75-foot-long (23 m) megalodon shark while on a rescue mission on the floor of the Pacific Ocean.

You need a diffuser sheet for your light ;-) Drier sheet works in a pinch. I think Meg is a brilliant film. There's loads of little bits in it that speak to quality. The fact there's an absurd shark in it is by the by. One bit, I fricken' love that there's crayon drawings on the lid of the red submarine. Shows it's a real prop not CGI and attention to detail. Most of all I love how they show the fish is attracted to bright coloured lights, which is why it follows and goes for the little girl, who is chasing a ball which glows with bright coloured lights, and she has shoes that glow with bright coloured lights, and yet no one mentions this at all anywhere in the movie - they trust the audience to join those dots. That's paying attention.

I looked for those the second time around and that’s pretty neat! I truly enjoyed The Meg. It really is a well-done movie with an incredible plot.

For those who have not seen Jaws a hundred times: The kid with the popsicle basically has the same conversation with his mother as the Alex Kintner boy in Jaws. Also, in that same beach scene in Jaws, there is a dog named Pippin playing in the water. You even commented about wondering why they put so much focus on the popsicle kid. I think it's because they did it for Jaws fans who remember Alex Kintner. There are other homages to Jaws, but these are the two that are obviously done on purpose rather than just coincidental writing.

At the beginning of the movie, Jason Statham closes the hatch to save the rest of the crew. Heller WOULDN'T have done the same thing, and the WHOLE crew would have died. He thinks that Jason 'lost it' because he didn't see what Jason did. The Young Japanese guy sacrifices himself for the same reason. BTW, Jason Statham was an Olympic swimmer before ha took up acting. 'Mansplaining' is a fictitious term, and is sexist. Ever womansplain anything?
