Hi. This was very important for people to see. This is how I learned to work with horses. A couple of ideas. I like to either stick the end of my lead rope in my belt or hold it in the same hand that I have the flag. I have a National Show Horse at the stable I take care of. The flag was used to scare him when he showed. The result was he felt the need to attack it. That will probably be there for the rest of his life so now the owner will have to be careful. The good thing about this horse is he loves to be scratched. The owner had been trying to get him ok with it for years but never got a change. After thinking about it a bit, I took the flag off the handle and held it in my hand while I scratched him. After a few minutes I was able to touch him all over with it. My only goal with every horse and the flag is they accept the flag and respect the flag but never fear it. Great video.

Hello! I appreciate your use of the flag in desensitizing. Do you ever give him a release from the flag and the constant motion and scary stuff when he’s a good boy? Just a suggestion... Maybe an idea for you to try? Just to reward him for tolerating all of the scary stuff ;)

Hi Chris, It can take time for them to become accustomed to new surroundings, have you over come this now?
