It's very thoughtful and kind of you to reach out to your SA, telling her not to stress on your behalf. However, the preorder system is terrible. They're holding onto your funds, earning interest, increasing their liquidity ... only to then give it back, because they can't - or won't - be fulfilling your order. That's either a badly managed supply chain or an elaborate scheme to get some free investment money.

I love your Murakami. The black with the gold is so sharp. I think if you’re paying 100% up front for an item then you should have 100% guarantee that the item will be received (for any brand or store or service). If they can’t uphold that and if this does happen with the Murakami pre orders then perhaps it’s time for LV to re think this process. Then again, they can do whatever they want and as long as people continue to support this process there won’t be any changes to their pre order system.

As a person who is not a vip. I could not do a pre order months in advance. I would be upset if I ordered in advance and then it was not fulfilled. That being said, my SA in chicago invited me to the launch party and said he would call when he knew if I could get the items I wanted from the look book. Which he did. They may not be able to fulfill all orders now but I’m sure they will be manufacturing more and they’ll trickle through over time. I recently paid upfront on a pre-order (not LV) and received an email to say that the run out had arrived but they oversold on pre-order so my goods would be fulfilled in the next run, which they were. It just meant waiting longer so for those people who have bought on pre-order, I’m sure they’ll get their Multicolore pieces eventually, just have to be patient. I’m taking my chances on the day and if I can’t get what I want, so be it. In a year or so half the stuff will be up on the 2nd hand market anyway.

I hope that you get your order. Considering the fact that those who placed orders had to pay the entire price, it is LV’s responsibility to make sure that everyone should receive their items. Pat on the back to you for trying to destress your SA. I do not blame anyone for worrying whether they will receive their orders. If LV has screwed up, and if this happens again in the future, they need to make it right to their customers. To give them the incentive to prevent it from happening again, LV should give credits for future purchases to those affected.

Here’s a secret which I’m sure you probably know. There was a pre preorder for VVIC release prior to VIC preorder - the additional 3 pre orders. Also - they do ship the items with the clients name pre determined on it when shipping from the hub. My recommendation - switch to a store with less traffic and you will get way more items. I swapped from one of LVs flagship locations on rodeo to a much smaller one and have been moved up to receiving gifts and event invitations. Where as I was a VIC at a larger store and was still treated well - but only was able to attend 1 private popup event for a special Virgil abloh exhibition release.

People went crazy...then we heard they were going to run out of certain items before the regular people even get a chance....and I have always thought the pre-order system was messed up. I cannot work out why they don't make up some more stock! Unless this was an officially specified limited edition? I had originally wanted the Toiletry 26 but thought better of it, not liking the silver hardware on this pattern and I am definitely not a VIP Client, so I would not have had a hope! The 100% deposit would not be an issue for me if there was 100% certainty that the item would be supplied. If they don't know, then they have no business asking clients to pay immediately. My SA contacted me this morning and said he is still waiting for my pre-order piece to arrive and will try his best to get it allocated to me. LV have definitely put the SAs in an awkward position with not enough stock to meet the pre-orders and apparently he has been telling clients today that their pre-orders are cancelled. Really interesting. I got in quick to preorder on 2nd December. Like you I’d unofficially seen items so when officially shared the look book that morning I was in there in a flash. Received confirmation at 12:11 pm! My experience in London was that arrived in store on 31 December and my SA shared videos of the items with me but I wasn’t allowed to collect until 2 January. I also received a LV email informing me my items had arrived. Talking to my SA today, she said preorders closed on the 2 December as LV didn’t want to take money for orders they may not be able to fulfil and also wanted some stock for launch. I made my pre-order in November and was invited to pick it up on January 1st, which I did. My SA said that they are taking a new round of pre-orders on January 3 (same date as the general launch date). She also told me that they have free stock of a few items. The store I go to is big and located in a very big city. So based on my experience, it doesn’t seem to be a general scarcity of products. If there is a problem it might be related to certain items or certain countries?

I’m in Australia and I ordered 2 of the TM bags (nano speedy and east west handbag in white MC canvas) from 2 different stores and my SAs said there is no guarantee of getting the bags because there is limited stock but since I pre-ordered really early, there is a strong possibility that I could get them. I got the call from my 2SAs yesterday and was told my bags are now ready for collection today! Yay. I believe they take as many pre orders as they can because people can change their minds after placing the orders. There is always no guarantee to get the bags even if you prepay them. The key is to preorder as soon as preorders are open.

Regarding the LV pre-order system, if you are having to pay for the piece prior to their release, especially in full, you, in my opinion, own the bag. LV should have a set number of pieces and only sell or pre-sell that number of pieces.

Here in Southern CA the rumor is true. I pre ordered a nano speedy and 3 SLGs and my SA texted last week and told me the nano didn’t come through. He said there is a chance I may be able to get one tomorrow on launch day. But if not at least I got the SLGs! 💕

If they can’t do that for the risk of people cancelling their preorders then either remove preorders so everyone gets the chance to buy when it drops or those who cancel will be on probation not being able to buy products for 6 months.

I completely agree that Louis Vuitton should change the way they do the pre-order process. Like you mentioned with Hermes & your Chanel: you should pay when you get your item. I was offered the chance to pre-order but as I have pieces from the original collection, I chose not to. But had I have ordered: I would be very disappointed. I DO feel with this relaunch Louis Vuitton have really worked on the whipped up frenzy & I feel IF the rumours are true it will backfire. I didn't pre-order because some of the items I was interested in are not available here in the UK or Europe - which truth be told disappointed me as a long time Louis Vuitton fan x

You are spot on. I was advised LV keeps a tab of how much you spend. Then the next step is becoming a VIC. When you’re a VIC then you are selected/invited to order. The VIC always gets first in line. Once the VIC are done then the non VIC can preorder, if any left.

Hi Amelia! I live in the US. I went into the store before Xmas and gave my wish list to my SA, but she did not take any money. She said we would send me a payment link today to pay. I have not heard from her yet, but she said the pieces are not expected to be received in the store until the 20th. I am not sure if they are waiting to see what will be coming to the store before they take a deposit from the customers. I don't like that they take the full deposit up-front. I just made a special-order Kelly 25 at Hermes and as you know they did not ask for a deposit. Not sure what is going on at LV. Love your videos!!

I pre-ordered 3 pieces from this collection and my SA straight up told me I may not get all of them. As long as I know that in advance I'm okay with it. I also think that if you spend the kind of money required to be offered the ability to pre-order from a brand there's nothing wrong with that. Exclusivity is a part of the overall appeal of designer collections - I personally don't care about that, but a lot of other people do. If LV flooded the market with this collection it would likely be far less popular. Thats just the way it is.

As of 11AM in California, the LV website let me add the Murakami Alma BB to cart, but I couldn't check out. It must've sold out that quickly. I did a deposit without order yesterday in store for the two items I wanted (I went to preorder on 3 December in the Dublin store but they had already closed the preorders). I was a bit worried that my orders wouldn’t go through since they were so late and I’d been hearing mixed things about stock (some saying it’s super limited while others saying there will be loads). It's very interesting hearing about the different ways of registering an interest, whether it's preorder or wishlist. I do think that LV's way of doing things is a bit of a kick in the teeth. The preorder opens up relatively close to the release date, so they must have a reasonable idea of how much stock there is; one of the richest brands is taking your money up front (why do they need to do this?); and they're opening up preorder not just for VIC's, but also for an ordinary customer (if there's not enough stock why are they giving so many the opportunity to preorder?). Surely, they knew they wouldn't be able to fulfil all the orders? I think it's a shabby way to treat customers, be them VIC's or not! And if they can cancel an order, does the customer have the same right?

Taking the full amount with no promise of fulfillment is sketchy to me. Just take a deposit and say if we can fulfill, we will then charge the total amount but if not we'll refund the deposit.

This is interesting because right now it’s just rumors, but let’s say it is true. I definitely feel like Louis Vuitton will need to rethink their preorder process. If you are allowing so many to make a preorder and asking them to pay then the expectation would be I’m going to receive this piece. Or they can say yes it’s a preorder and yes you have to pay upfront but this isn’t a grandee. Your order could be canceled but you will be refunded. Refunded not store credit. Then if there is a situation like this possibly, everyone already knows it’s not a guarantee when you pre order. Or only so many preorders are aloud so once that threshold has been met preorders are closed. Can’t wait to see what happens. I hope everyone gets their orders so no one is disappointed. I’d have to be a buyer or SA right now 😢. Both are on the edge of their seats.

It does say on the invoice you get from LV that the pieces are not guaranteed!! I do know that they have had to cancel some orders in the UK On the first day of preorders it was so busy that after that day it changed to it had to be for clients that have spent over £100k

I had the impression this was the plan for pre-orders all along. 100K clients first, then 50K then 25K, here in U.S. He said he heard there were only two 100K customers in Hawaii. I doubt they ran out for the VIP orders, at least not for 100K and 50K. Probably they will be behind for the last of the general pre-orders. Don’t get your panties in a twist, ladies. On a scale of 1-10, I give this life problem a zero. 😂 Don’t come for me. 😳

I am in Canada. I was only allowed to place/pay for my order today, Jan 2. I paid for my items only for my SA to tell me that they have to see which orders are open and she will let me know if any pieces are available. If any are not available then I will get a refund on the unavailable. Um. What kind of business is that?

What’s wild is in about 51 weeks time, we will be looking back at 2025 & this craze will feel like a life time ago….so you’re dead right to have a grounded approach about it if your orders can’t be fulfilled. If you like them enough, they will work their way into your closet!
