I was the happiest I had EVER been in my life living abroad. Making it happen very soon again. This time it will be permanent. The best thing any Black woman can do for themselves is leave this country behind and take yourself and your resources elsewhere, especially where you're appreciated. We have no protection in this hellhole.

@@MindfulMoments1444 It’s sad, but I agree. I think most black women would be better off mentally if they moved elsewhere. It is risky. I wouldn’t call America a hellhole though. America is the primary reason why you can actually live abroad pretty easily. The global economy makes it possible, and the engine of the global economy is America. The fact that you were born in America allowed you to speak English as a first language, which is the international language of business. Do your research before you pick a place though. A lot of these countries are welcoming to tourists, but immigrants are an entirely different story. Uber right wing populism is spreading through Europe and South America like a wildfire. Sites like BIGO Live are live-streaming 24/7 and some of the bottom of the barrel blk women are on there literally reinforcing every negative stereotype you can think of for a global audience of 400M users. Be careful, the grass isn’t always greener. You’re used to a level of constitutional rights here that don’t necessarily exist in other countries.
@MindfulMoments1444
@MindfulMoments1444 23 күн бұрын
@@brandnew9834 I lived abroad already and enjoyed it. As far as constitutional rights, I felt safer abroad for many reasons. As far being blessed to speak English, I've been to many countries that didn't have English as a primary language and never really had a problem because I made the effort to learn the local language and interact with locals and not set myself apart as a tourist. I've worked hard to make it a possibility to travel but the fact that I don't even feel safe in my own country is a HUGE drawback, that's what I meant by hellhole. Not to mention many policies and laws are being rolled back at this very moment while anything meant to uplift and support Black people is being attacked. I avoid all of Europe and any other countries with Extreme Right Wing policies which is where America is headed now (so this will be on the avoid list soon). Research is a must before any travel abroad. The grass was greener for me personally but you're right, this isn't always the case for many. You have to be willing to adjust. I wasn't aware of BIGO but since I'm not ratchet, it won't be useful for me.

@@MindfulMoments1444 If you don’t mind me asking, what places are you feeling safer? You don’t have to name one city but maybe just a region? @@brandnew9834 This is a really odd and myopic take to have. I actually have no issue with Caucasian women, so that may be something on your radar but not mine. It actually speaks volumes about you and who you are. Overall, I'm happier abroad, end of story. Take care!

I wish our children/ brothers can understand that if a woman stands the way you do, they are not trying to be MEN, but are being protective of what’s ours whilst supporting them; either directly or indirectly. I wish your community can thrive, and let’s make this continent; this world better for our children and grandchildren. You remind me of the great Maya Angelou. God Bless 🙏🏾👍🏽🙏🏾

I just finished this video Ashley and you have put into words what I've been feeling for a long time. This is bigger than Amanda Seales, its about Black women as a whole and how we're not allowed to be fully fledged human beings with a range of emotions here and its sad. We are not allowed the same level of grace as others while we shoulder the responsibility with being the faces of the Black community in White Spaces (corporate, institutional etc). We only have two options: be a Cardi B or be someone who goes along with the status quo. We can attain certain levels of success, money and status (when allowed) but at what cost? Our peace, our joy, our mental health and well-being; being medicated for years, daily drinking, smoking and forcing ourselves to fit into a mold is not healthy over a lifetime. For some, the money, status and success is enough for them, the money comforts them. For others, it doesn't. As we see things regressing at breakneck speeds, more people will have to explore their options, hopefully this will help people consider the alternative you presented. Thank you!!

The arab slave trade began long before the islamic conquest of Africa. It started long before the transatlantic slave trade and lasted much longer. About 1,300 years. Arabs were the first to enslave black africans and they laid the foundation for the transatlantic slave trade. Europeans found a flourishing slave trade when they arrived and all they saw was how black people were treated by arabs and even their own leaders...to them it was like "Oh I guess thats how its done here, we can also use some free labor, lets get into it." The arabs sold them their sea routes to establish their own slave trade. In many arab nations, its still happening to this day, on a smaller scale. Black people were taken advantage of by everyone.

the lump generalization is disappointing, as well as the description of successful being tied to a six figure income.. Ashley forever fan here. However, as a Nigerian (American) man I think sometimes the black community in America just unloads racially without any actual focus. Certainly, America has its issues against Black women/people. However, how a "beef" that arises between Amanda and Issa Rae and Vanessa Anderson other black women becomes an America "not deserving black women" issue is completely beyond me. This really is just a squabble among a small circle that because everybody is loud about every issue, somehow becomes a topic discussed from America to South Africa and back.

I think the biggest problem with BW in America is they resent the fact that they are not desired and praised like WW. We have a very unhealthy obsession with White people. Damn near every other race in America have issues with BW. But, BW never take ownership for their own shortcomings.

@@fistandpen2505 to your point, the issue between these women was not based on race just internal conflicts. But you missed the point Ashley was trying to make, America demonizes Black women and judges us more harshly than others when we are too vocal, too passionate, too loud (perception). If we speak about any injustice, we are targeted and are automatically the problem to be dealt with. Hence, we're seeing the targeting of Black women in high places and making up reasons as to why they're being targeted (many from the Diaspora) and blocking a lot of policies that were put in place for all people of color. I follow a lot of people from the Diaspora just to hear what they're take on things is and realize there is a stark difference between their reason for being in the US which is to build and possibly go back to their homelands or improve their standings vs people with a long history here, which is to fight for equality in all respects. In a small percentage of cases, some are also fighting for equality but that is not the overwhelming majority. Just giving you a bit of perspective in regard to what she is referencing here, its bigger than and not really about Amanda Seales.

The only people I saw with guns the whole of my 2.5 years in SE Asia were police and military, didn't have to worry about some random person with a gun in the grocery store or at a park or random violence that sparks off here. Also was uplifted and supported by a wonderful family while there. It's a matter of being respectful of the laws, people and country hosting you. Ashley, black women are thriving in the US. I respect your opinion, and I respect you, but black women have more power than in other countries. Honestly, I feel that black people in general will never be totally free in white society. I don't care if you are in North America or Europe. Total freedom will never be achieved. We must stop always talking about the 6 figures jobs. Money and higher education are not everything, and it does make a person. The key is to own. Own your own business and lifting up others and not depending on whites for approval. The US, in my opinion, totally deserves black women. We can only control when we own.

That's not necessarily true. While I do agree that owning your own business and being self-sufficient are key for our success here, how many people in our community percentage wise are going to do that? For that to make a difference, a large percentage are going to have to get on board and commit to having our own everything to have enough power to be effective. Otherwise it will never put a dent in deeply embedded racism rampant in this country. You say we shouldn't overvalue these jobs, money, status but isn't that what you're advocating by staying. We should be ok with never being free because we have perceived power here afforded to us by those jobs, money and status which can be taken away at any time which is what we're witnessing in real time. Why should we just be happy and content with never being free?? That sounds like slavery especially when we know that true happiness is possible. The logic is not making sense here, just saying. Wishing you the best.

Hip hop wasn't started by Black women; it was started by men. Unfortunately, due to its existence, all races of women in the United States have been victimized by the concept of hip-hop the most. Artists like Sexy Red, Nicki Minaj, and others are the result of the degrading lyrics that have been spoken over the masses for years. Now, men are seeing the manifestation of their own harmful actions and are realizing just how destructive it is.
