The "why didn't Kamala do these policies earlier" bit was peddled for so long and remained uncontested for so long that it actually convinced people that the VP was like Prezzy 2.0 in everything but name and that she held out on them. That’s really about it. No care for what happens to children after they’re born though. Had their been some consistency in reforming foster care and adoption systems or generally speaking the quality of life for children of either poorer backgrounds or lack of permanent guardians, jt would have made sense. Not only that but it seems like the best economists in the country breaking down Trump’s plan and determining we’d fare worse because of them wasn’t enough. I’m half-way convinced that this terrible world constantly needs to be retraumatized by WW2-like events. This is a great analysis I think you are spot on. Kamala needed to branch out from Biden policy. She somehow stayed too close to Biden who people were already dissatisfied with, while slowly moving more to the centre to appeal to right voters. but in the end the right wouldn't vote for her anyway and she just alienated herself from the left due to her stances on some key issues being too close to the centre and status quo, or just the same thing biden was doing which people were not satisfied with.

What particularly baffles me about the "eggs and gas were cheaper" argument is that he promised tariffs, which doesn't encourage domestic production, it just raises prices on everything. Do you know how much of our produce is grown domestically? Meat? Clothing? Electronics? And no, the domestic options won't be cheaper because they'll just raise the prices on them, too, in the name of "business expenses." Tariffs just means the seller sells for a higher price until the termination point of the supply chain, which is the consumer. People are going to starve because they won't be able to afford a can of corn. Unless you are very lucky with where you live or you just don't plan on buying anything for the next 4 years (or more), you will not be able to avoid imported goods and the fact that people didn't see that despite EVERY EXPERT IN THE FIELD screaming in their face because personal experience overrode actual evidence horrifies me.

This video actually gave me hope that people will be united by a common opponent and actually organise to form safety nets for POC, queer people and women etc that are absolutely needed. Progress is so fragile yet takes so long to achieve. Let’s not let mango Mussolini take that away from us

Not teaching civics in school anymore is heartbreaking. I don’t know why we don’t teach younger people the basics of being adults. Teach them about the basic structure of government. Let them learn basic economics. They don’t need to be experts that’s what specialization is for but equip them to be able to participate and comprehend the political climate of the nation. That along with teaching history efficiently would do wonders for our country in the long term. But it’s easier to manipulate the uninformed.

It took me this long to return to this topic....I've been struggling mightily, and have gotten by with therapy, Muppets, and PBS programming (which i know the new admin will threaten or try to shut down). I need to find my local community again. Much love to you all💙
