Under Kennedy, no American troops were in combat in Vietnam. Kennedy did not want the US involved in combat missions in Vietnam. In an interview in 1963, Kennedy said, “Any war in Vietnam is going to have to fought and won by the Vietnamese themselves.” In fact, in October 1963, Kennedy signed an Executive Order (NSAM 263) that called for a withdrawal of 1,000 US troops from Vietnam by December 31, 1963, followed by a complete and total withdrawal of all US troops from Vietnam by December 31, 1965. On the day after Kennedy’s funeral, on November 26, 1963, Johnson signed NSAM 273 which effectively reversed Kennedy’s Order, and for all intents and purposes, the Vietnam War with US involvement was born. Then in March 1965, Johnson ordered US Marines Into full combat mode in Vietnam. JOHNSON THEN LIED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ABOUT THE GULF OF TONKIN INCIDENT in order to justify an escalation. By 1968, Johnson had over 500,000 American boys fighting in Vietnam. Who is less moral? The man who cheats on his wife or the men who send 58,000 American teenagers to their premature deaths (Nixon was part of it too). The way you feel about men who cheat on their wives, I’m guessing you must really despise Donald Trump who cheated on all 3 of his wives. Trump even cheated on Melania with Stormy Daniels while Melania was pregnant with their son Barron. Now that’s pretty slimy really.

Most of the generals along with hawkish conservatives were strongly pressuring Kennedy to either bomb or invade Cuba. But Kennedy knew that such action could very well lead to all-out nuclear war with the USSR and the end of the human race. So Kennedy ordered a naval blockade, and it worked. Behind the scenes, Kennedy and Khrushchev worked out a deal wherein the Soviets would withdraw their missiles from Cuba if the US would withdraw its missiles from Turkey and Italy. Kennedy not only made your current life possible, he made the lives of your children and grandchildren possible as well. It was due to the absolutely RECKLESS behavior by a rogue CIA that was trying to operate as its own shadow government with its own foreign policy objectives that led to the CMC in the first place. Kennedy made a big mistake when he very reluctantly approved the Bay of Pigs invasion. Kennedy never liked the idea, but caved to pressure as a new president. It turned out to be a huge fiasco. The CIA thought they were in charge rather than the POTUS. Even Eisenhower knew the CIA was out of control as he warned America of “the growing menace of the military industrial complex” of which the CIA was part.

In his speeches and in his notes. I was 11 years old. My Mother brought home our beautiful new born baby sister on this very same day.We were at school when our Principal made the announcement that echoed over the loud speaker. I got home to meet my baby sister only to find my Mother in tears on this day what should have been a day of joyful celebration turned out to be both of great profound sadness and joy. So on this anniversary we shall always be reminded of the passing of JFK and the Blessed day our baby sister (who turned 60 this month) came home. We also as Canadians loved President Kennedy.

I was only six years old at the time. I remember every moment of that dark time when we lost JFK, an event from which we never fully recovered. You're right. The country never felt the same again. We had protests, Vietnam and three other assassinations. We had fallen from grace. I was 17. I had forgotten that the Minnesota Governor nominated JFK at the national convention until watching this documentary. I watched the entire funeral and my father taped it for me, even though he was a Republican. He may have voted for JFK for my father always voted the the person first and foremost.(He always voted for Hubert Humphrey.) Seeing the bands and the horses and the riderless horse brought the stark sadness back to the present.

I was 12 when he was killed and I also remember how frightened I was during those days in October during the Cuban missile crisis. I lived within 60 miles of Offutt AFB. It was a very sad and sobering experience to have a president killed even when you’re only 12 years old. I tend to believe that was the start when everything else started to fall apart. And it didn’t have to happen that way at all.

Cuban Missle Crisis.My late father was in the Air Force stationed at Patrick Air Force Base ,Satellite Beach Florida.Fifteen miles from Cape Canaveral which would likely be one of the main targets of the missles. We were told that we may have to evacuate. My Mother had suitcases packed.

I had just turned 8 on that tragic day, November 22, 63. He was supposed to be in Chicago November 2, and the assassination was stopped that day. My mother was going to take me to see him as that was my birthday. The events during his administration and the sad end have made a lasting impression and impact on me, even to this day. Since Lincoln 100 years prior, we have not seen a president that had the fate of the nation in their singular hands, and survival was achieved by their singular actions. Their orator skills are not surpassed even to this day by none. There has not been a president since Kennedy that has been as qualified and has had the ability to act as a world leader. From JFK, a huge step down with LBJ to rock bottom with Trump. People ask how did we get to the horrible place we find America today. Just one day in history ended it all, and any hope for redemption was lost on June 8, 1968. Rest in Peace John F. This film is fine for what it is intended to do. It's like a highlight reel of JFK's early life and political career. It isn't a serious documentary though because it speaks little about his flaws and serious shortcomings. At one point, one of the men who worked in his administration describes JFK's relationship with VP Johnson as very cordial with much camaraderie. This is a blatant lie--Johnson hated the Kennedys, especially Attorney General Robert yet he wasn't crazy about the President either--and they weren't crazy about him, especially Robert.

Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and tell him not to go to Dallas. But history is history, and once it’s done, it’s done. But we have to remember the gift he gave us during his time on Earth, and also the joy he gave us. He was the only president who had a young and witty spirit and a big a generous heart, and that he will always be remembered for many centuries to come. Dean Rusk, in those interview clips shown here, seems so suave and rational; he was not really that. He was the man who intransigently defended our misguided policy in Vietnam, even after he left office. He was estranged from one of his sons for a long time because of this. Ironically, this son helped Rusk with his memoirs after the former Secretary of State went blind.

If you are so smart, tell me who drove Oswald to the Rifle range. This decries that he was not a good shot. People on the range saw his targets, all bulllseyes. He even shot some of their targets. I was not able to contact the fellow who worked for my father about Garrison. As a five and six-year-old, I had gone fishing with him many time. He was a Cajun. After one hurricane, he could not be reached for months. Finally, my father reached him, and he said: "I made out fine, Ve make do in the Bayous." NISO's job was to track Oswald, not Marina which the FBI wanted to follow. NISO never had a clue where he was. Their 300 operational file was missing with all his records in it. Imagine that. They claimed they were understaffed. NISO has always said that and chasing around petty crimes by Sailors. In the 80's it was busting sailors for drugs in their lockers. Did you ever go to the Fairgrounds? That was a hangout, and Cheta's Bar backing up to the Fairgrounds was one of the gambling operations that my Uncle Dick went to regularly. He was an ambulance chaser. Slot machines were all over town. I went to Cheta's with him a couple times one of his favorite hangouts. He played the horses there and was paid out immediately. Outside the bar's back door was a little area with a platform. One of the workers would go out after every race with binoculars and check the results on the racing board and come back in with the results. I lived in New Orleans but moved when I was six. So, I missed out on all the fun. At the Mardi Gras, I caught some candy that Hopalong Cassidy riding on his horse threw to me. I was in heaven. I still remember it. Even though President Kennedy died a few months before I was born, if I had to choose, he would be my choice for the best President! For many reasons but not because I’m a Democrat because I belong to no party! I liked him because he stuck his neck out for certain things like going to the moon, which we did and I doubt that we would have if he hadn’t made that speech at “Rice stadium!” Also, when he was running for president, he was asked if he was elected what would he do about “Cuba?” He said that he thought the current administration was doing a good job!
