@@poolpassion yea I don’t think there’s any argument about Earl being dominant at 9 ball but he even said it himself that Efren is the best player ever. When someone others call the best states another player is better I don’t think there’s an argument anymore at that point.

Strickland may play pool well but he lacks good sportsmanship. When he lost to Efren in Hong Kong, his attitude was reprehensible. Never a champion in my estimation.

Not even a great player..he cant do 2 or 3 complex rail shots like Effren and no magic wonderous shots like Effren.. another game and he would lose for sure against Effren! Sometimes you are not in your top shape!

Earl is a great 9 ball player who can do what I call a standard range of shots more effectively than 99% of professional players. Efren has far more mastery of the science of pool and and potential for playing unorthodox shots at critical times. Not only that but he is a master across all variants, whether it is 9 ball, straight pool, one-pocket or whatever. Never seen the like, will probably never see the like again in my lifetime.

I asked Earl myself at the Super Billiards Expo who the greatest player of all time is and he told me that the greatest player he ever played was Efren Reyes.

Both players are skilful and dangerous. I don't like Earl's behavior at all. On the other hand, Efren's behavior is stunning. Efren is my favorite pool player of all time. He thinks different. In my opinion he's GOAT. Thanks for share. 🇧🇷

I don't know much about this sports. But i watched so many of his videos, thanks to youtube recommendations. But i kind of started liking him due to his humbleness, kindness and calm personality. I watched many of his videos. He is such a gem of a person who everyone should learn this attitude from him.

Those first two clips of Earl saying he is not great were not about Efren. Also, when Reyes was claiming a retirement he and Earl played a match against each other. Earl gave a small speech and clearly said that Reyes is the best pool player ever.

Efren consistently shoots a ‘good stick’. I’m sure has his ‘off’ days, but as long as he still enjoys a game or two, why not continue to play. It is such pleasure to watch him play. He will slow down eventually, but the key that is finding something to fill in the time that will be rewarding (mentally, physically and spiritually). I think, however, he already knows this. It is a challenge to fully get into a retirement state of mind.

Earl is the 9 ball GOAT, Efren Reyes is the 8 ball GOAT.Efrens attitude and sportsmanship makes him much more fun to root for but you still have to give Earl his flowers, even though I’d love if I didn’t have to.

I’d love to attain Strickland’s skill level but I could never have his attitude. As for Efren, he’s the GOAT and watching him is fun. I feel tense when watching Strickland because you never know when his inner bad sportsman is going to bubble to the surface in some embarrassing manner.

Just because the way he shoot is more correct "theoretically" (by American theory), doesn't mean he's the better player. Efren Reyes is far ahead than Strickland and have prove it many times.

I lost all respect for Earl Strickland many years ago when watching one of his matches on ESPN. He moved an object ball, but the referee didn't see it because the ref was standing behind Earl. Earl played on as if nothing happened. Even the commentators Mitch Laurence and Eva Mataya Laurence remarked on it, because it was caught on camera. As far as I'm concerned, Earl is a cheat.

@@WillyEckaslike surprising as I used to play pool in party a bit with Earl when he lived in Richmond, KY… Back in the mid n late 1980’s we’d take on challengers in 8 Ball at Bottles n T-Bombarders Bars n line the wall with beers… 😂 Partying with University Students… Then meet for practice in the afternoons 9 Ball sessions preparing for Tournaments at Bobby Johnson’s Billiards (now dead n closed). I learned a lot from Earl when I use to Play, but chose University over the game…. During one of those practice sessions he told me I’d beat him more than he’d been beat the past 6 months on the Championship circuit… 😂 Drove him to Chicago for the Pheasant Run Resort. He introduced me as his manager… 😂. Hell, he just needed a ride as he’d wine a car, but lost his license drinking n playing all night before I’d met him… 😂 A way I did get him back in with Meucci Cues…. In fact, he’d let me use his stick during the tournament to play some pros in the green room n I’d warped it a little breaking…. Hence, the invention of the graphite breaking cue…. He was a bit superstitious I guess like a lot are n thought he had to play 27 holes of golf everyday to win… 😂. He told me that he wished cues were made of graphite to prevent me from warping his stick… 😂. I told him now that I’ve got him back in with Meucci maybe they will invent him one, and they did… 😂 Good memories. I haven’t seen him in decades… JR

Ok look, although I agree that Reyes is better than Earl. In earls prime he was the second best player and rival against Efren. I wouldn’t say that Earl deserves to have that thumbnail as if Earl didn’t give Efren a run for the money. To me Earl is the second best player of all time and Efren is 1
