Beautiful Rock cuts and the forests of upper New York State. The perfect line to just sit back and relax and see it from the train rather than have to drive. Bitold thought dinner came with the fire and today we even get to meet a dog with much more excitement that sounded like Mr Huffandpuff

Great Video, it's always interesting to watch you and your dog in the video. Many greetings from Germany.

The line was constructed to compete with the D&H that ran along lake Champlain to the east. Destination Montreal. There was a large maintenance Rail hub in Malone , NY along the line. Several lines merged at Lake Clear junction,NY way up in the Adirondacks.

A great book explaining the construction of this line is called "the fairy tail railroad" definitely worth a read.

Can't Wait! After having our trip on last year's inaugural run cancelled due to the rain/washout of the railbed when we were visiting home, my wife and I will be on the upcoming August 17th trip. Really looking forward to riding past the old train station in Sabattis and towards Tupper Lake. Wonderful memories of my youth walking along that trackage to some fishing holes with my grandfather who's hunting camp was nearby!

We took the Thendara to Otter Lake trip this past Friday (7/19/24) Stayed in the open air car for the entire ride. Lots of fun. Especially watching the run-around of the loco for the return. Man is the horn loud !!! We camped at Lake Durant, which is beautiful. Our tickets were from last year, but due to the bad storms and washouts the train was unable to run. Great folks operating the ADK RR !!!!!! If you get the chance, ride the Adirondack RR !!!!!!!!

Always love your little comments and explanations. I hope they have a good and safe rail travel season. Glad Witold and you had a nice outing! Is Little Red his friend? Lovely dogs. Was that an Alco? There was one that derailed in Rome, NY, not heard as to why. As of this Sunday just past, it was back on track and next to a hi rail flatbed truck that had a few black bananas on it. (I know they have been working on replacing some ties.) I don't think the train was going fast, but my, I could hear him lay on that horn when it happened!! It was a looooong blast! Watching from Rome NY

I'll bet you that your friend Andre, if he was the engineer today, is not too happy with the locomotive setup. Long nose lead both ways on a one hundred and eight (108) mile one way ride. First his neck is going to have a kink in it and second thing is the reduced long nose vision. Oh well nice video on your part.

I imagine they shuffled the power in Big Moose so 2453 was on the south end and 3573 was on the north end. The runaround in Tupper is currently torn up for rehabilitation, requiring trains going to and from there to be set up 1x1
@jimkelton40523 ай бұрын
@NorthCountryTrains You are correct, but it would have been just as easy to do it in Utica by setting the 53 against the train and tacking on the 73 west out. It just from my experience of what a pain in the backside it is to run long nose.
@NorthCountryTrains3 ай бұрын
@@jimkelton4052 Yeah I’m not sure why they didn’t do it in Utica, must’ve not had enough time

Shame the drive into some of the remote areas is so out of the way. But I guess this gives the railroad some serious neatness. Parts of it are so far from any civilization.
