WATCH: America's Daughters is a powerful piece of spoken word written and performed by a female survivor of sex trafficking we serve. Through her brave words, we gain a brief glimpse into the unbelievable exploitation so many young people have endured while yearning for what we all need: LOVE. This woman's brave decision to speak out also demonstrates the remarkable resilience of the survivors Polaris Project serves every day. America's Daughters

If you missed it, America’s Daughters is an inspiring, heart-shredding piece of spoken word from a survivor of human trafficking. There are 21 million men, women and children who are victims of human trafficking around the world. Every one deserves our support. And every one has a story to tell. WATCH: America's Daughters

If there's "21 million men, women and children who are victims of human trafficking", how come the video only focuses on women? It's called "America's Daughters", not "America's Sons & Daughters". You give a one-sided perspective that perpetuates the stereotypes that only men can be "monsters" that abuse and traffick people, and that only females are the one being abused and trafficked.

Thank you for highlighting the diversity of survivor experiences and that men are also victims of this terrible crime. The purpose of this video is to highlight this survivor’s perspective and experience, focusing on her words and her performance of them. Thank you again.

Polaris Project (Official) The purpose is to pull on heart strings and gain empathy and wile I understand the pain and suffering the speaker and those like her had to endure is not right.I also know when a man dies trying to protect a woman. This video uses a female talking about females because we are taught women and children first. I have watched some of your videos and at best they talk in gender neutral terms but there are a lot that only focus on women. So, if you don't want to hear about your biased views ...Do something about it.

So far only women and not other genders mentioned. That is a fact there is more than just the binary and men barely if at all get mentioned under the same circumstances. Even transsexuals and transgender I never hear mentioned that are human trafficked offline... barely online. Replacing "she" and "her" with other genders I mean to be more clear on this.

Polaris Project (Official) Thank You for posting this. I understand that this applies to Males and Females, having said that, I don't understand why the controversy in having this piece be only about Women! Are we not allowed to express ourselves as it applies to Us and Our Gender, do we have to be politically correct and inclusive? Good Work in shining the light especially in lieu of what just happened in Las Vegas.

this is beautiful~~fierce, brave, incisive, and moving... i am always looking for art created by survivors... a glimpse into the minds and the souls of survivors to use as educational pieces for people who just simply don't understand the torment that a life as a sex slave truly is. thank you for your words. You are an inspiration.

I must take a minute and thank you! That could not have been easy poem to write or share w/the world... I am a couple of the girls you mentioned and I'm terrified my daughter made that on the same path. So although I have collected an arsenal of things and plans the future on how to deal with this situation I have decided tthat your poemmust be added to it.

It is true that this is a good video... sadly though people seem to not care more than before and slavery still goes on. Even Cuba says slavery does not exist for them. Also I hope the US can fight off human trafficking/slavery fully so it no longer exists in any form

This is a powerful thought, emotion and action provoking video which also gives you the option of viewing its transcript. Told by a woman who's been there and lived to tell about it. Please read and help to eradicate the shameful practice of objectifying women, in any way, but especially through the enslavement and dehumanizing practice of sex trafficking.
