Growing up in Essex County I was a member of Jersey Ski and wish I knew of Shady Rest. Doing "Our own thing" is why Baseball was integrated... We Crush Everything!

The issue is black people were never on the course. Seeing a black person play was rare. Today, I go out and see alot of black people playing. They games needs as many different types of people to play. It's a great Game!!!

Great story! I am very familiar with Shady Rest. I am a past executive at PGA of America. Proud to say that under my leadership we bestowed posthumous PGA Membership to John Shippen, Bill Spiller and Teddy Rhodes because the PGA Constitution prohibited Blacks to be a PGA Member. Joe Louis was given Honorary PGA Membership because he used his celebrity status to being attention that eventually removed the Caucasian Only clause from the PGA Constitution. Greatly appreciate you sharing the rich history of Blacks in Golf such as the Shady Rest story. Earnie Ellison

I truly enjoyed watching this video. very nicely made my man! keep up the good work! I now want to go to NJ and play Shady Rest. I've been golfing for the past 3 years on and off and i love the game. I started playing in the military but stopped for a long time. I now live in long beach, Ca and love going out and playing every course i can. I am actually playing Heartwell on Sunday. Hope to catch you for a round one day!

You all had a😮 chance to give a better history of the course and😅 the folks that was a part of the growth but you started talking about past experiences away from this course which in my opinion was counterproductive. Hope to get up there and play there, good luck and keep the faith. Thanks.

We need to know the course in SoCal that asked you to wait outside. It’s important to shame some people into doing what’s right. Beyond that, I need to know so that I don’t spend my money at that course. We can talk with our money.
