Leading them to obviously believe they had talent before hand. That's why you get the outrageous responses because they were set up. Not scripted. It's why all these shows have a sob story now instead of genuinely exploiting delusional people for a comedic factor.

I like to encourage people to be musicians, but the people around these people need to tell them the truth so they don't go on tv and embarrass themselves.

The same was true of Banarama, one actually good singer having to carry two average ones, which is why both groups did harmonies to disguise the fact they were shit individually.

And I must say, it's a gift! How great that they are, obviously, being chosen to audition for just that reason. The incredibly generic/derivative performers who do end up passing the audition, are boring af. We need more of these failed auditions. May they never stop.
