I think he just said that to be cheeky and rile up the other judges. He did have a decent voice but he knew it wasn't good enough to get anywhere in the competition and dude was like glaring directly at him the whole time. He knew he had no place in the competition, dude was volatile.

I can relate with the first guy. He was obviously nervous and his way of coping with it was humour. He was trying to be funny but the judges took offence to that but tbh it felt more like the judges were looking for a reason to put him down because I highly doubt judges would give a shit about the struggles people face up until they can use it in an argument to get the moral high ground.
