When I was 4 years old, I watched this tape all the time. It was all I knew. My parents had the VHS tape. I always thought Cyclone was so interesting (and Thunderbolt) and I always wanted to ride it. Well, I'm 29 now and I just got my wish. I rode the Cyclone yesterday and I've got photos to prove it!

@@DAOzz83 Scary-but not for the reason you think! I actually wound up growing up to be 6ft 11in, so I kept ducking the whole time so I wouldn’t lose my head. The ride operators insisted I’d be safe riding. They had to put me in the rearmost seat, alone, since it has more legroom. And I had to cross my legs. But I did it!
@DAOzz839 ай бұрын
I’m sure that in the last (nearly) 100 years, at _least_ a few guys over Seven Foot have made their way down to the Cyclone. But it sounds like it was quite a ride for you!

The end credits song popped into my brain just now, and it took me half an hour to remember that it was from this video, and then I searched KZbin for it and sure enough, someone had uploaded the whole tape! This is the first time I've watched this since the 90's and I was surprised how much I remembered.
@pattym91822 жыл бұрын
I SWEAR, at the job I've been at for a year now, come February, I heard them play THAT song during my first week and I was desperate to find out if there were actual words to it, yet it took over 2 months after I first heard it play. It WAS slightly different from it, and after catching the main chorus of the song, turns out Madonna had a song out in the 80s called "Dress You Up in My Love" that I'm 99% sure HAD to be their inspiration for that music. There's enough differences that the credit music here DEFINITELY wasn't a direct copy...but the dinging/chiming is DEFINITELY taken from her song.

Heh, old comment, but; I’m not surprised! People are calling it cheesy, but it’s really a well put together little production. Script, presentation, visuals, music, editing; It’s all very straightforward, but with just enough flair to keep it interesting, and it comes together quite well. All in all, it’s not surprising it managed to worm it’s way into your brain; It certainly did mine!

@@bryanterry1111 Hey there's nothing wrong with what you said....it's actually quite true!! Of course MOST of our sources of annoyance before we were 14 or 15 seem petty and overdramatic in hindsight, and I'm no exception...I just view it as a sign that my childhood was positive and good enough that the stuff that upset, annoyed, or angered were far more petty (and I, therefore, far more overdramatic) than ACTUAL issues people experience in life!! I would imagine if I had lived in severe poverty or was a victim of child sexual abuse, the idea of Arrow Dynamics (and every subsequent steel coaster company after) changing their lift system so it didn't make the loud, infamous "Arrow chain lift clanking noise" that I enjoyed SO much as a kid (living about a 5 minute drive from Kennywood meant my family was there MANY times every year, even before they started having season passes...I would ACTUALLY stand near the Steel Phantom, and then Phantom's Revenge, listening to it in sheer awe...as if it were a damn concert!! I get super embarrassed thinking about it now @ 29 years old, especially because I did it whether I was with family or friends!! But again, I'm glad THAT was my obsession, and I never needed to focus on finding a loving family or something!

Crazy to watch this now and see what is and isn't still in operation. Lets see: Viper- Operating but I've heard its gotten rough over the years Batman- Operating and with fresh paint job. Honestly I think the blue track looks better Mean Streak-Now the giant RMC hybrid Steel Vengeance Magnum XL 200-Operating Raptor- Of course its still in operation, its one of the best inverts ever Beast-Operating, duh Top Gun- Now known as Flight Deck Texas Giant- Now the New Texas Giant, the RMC hybrid that started it all Kumba- Still operating Big Bad Wolf- RIP :'( I still haven't forgiven them for removing the best suspended coaster, I never got a chance to ride it. Drachen Fire- One of the most infamous defunct coasters ever Thunderbolt- Still going strong Steel Phantom- Now the non-looping Phantom's Revenge with a much smoother ride experience Cyclone- The landmark coaster is still operating, but it did almost get torn down back in the 70's

Funny how a number of these "greatest american coasters" featured are disliked. Viper has a reputation of being unbearably bumpy, Magnum 200 is thought to be boring and unpleasant, and Mean Streak has a reputation of being one of the worst coasters ever made. Also, how do you base the program at Magic Mountain and not mention Colossus?
@jmpayne3334 жыл бұрын
It’s easy to say they are disliked now but when then video came out they weren’t quite as rough and coaster enthusiasts weren’t as fortunate as we are today to have so many more designers that specifically take into account the smoothness of a ride. At the time this video came out I had been on over 150 coasters and the ones I had ridden on this list were some of the best out there.
