in ADHD terms: man pushes rock into laser thingie, world ends and man is sent into stasis thing by a suit guy who sort of started the whole thing soldier guy is sent on a mission to black mesa, fails, then succeeds, and gets put in stasis by suit guy man comes back 20 years later and brutally murders evil soldier guys (combine), few days later scientist pal guy dies to a big fleshy thing girl wakes up in a facility, makes portals, solves puzzles, and kicks an evil robots ass girl wakes up again with a robot companion that both successfully kick evil robots ass again, only for robot companion to do a little swap with evil robot, girl kicks both their asses and leaves. scientist pals daughter tries to get in a big ship thing and presumably save man from 15 years ago, instead releases suit guy and saves her father at the cost of being taken away by social care. Unforeseen Consequences

no one's gonna read this but it kinda seems like the Portal storyline happens either somewhat before or way after the combine invasion of earth simply due to the fact that there are no citadel superportals visible on the planet/in space during Portal 2's ending. I know C17's Citadel was supposedly built 5 years prior to the events of HL2, and it was under construction during HL: Alyx, but there's gotta be more of them all over the world. Anyway, thanks for coming to my "Shower Thoughts" TEDTalk. No refunds.

I thought the resonance cascade was prevented by Cave Johnson and Caroline when they bought Black Mesa and renaming it into blapeture mesa. There was no combine invasion, Gordon Freeman was never put into stasis, and their world was normal.

Given how things went with the Seven Hour War, I can’t help but wonder how Humanity would have managed had the Combine never arrived, but instead they had to deal with the Nihilanth’s initial invasion plan. Let’s say for this hypothetical that Gordon for whatever reason failed in his attempt to stop the Nihilanth, or maybe Gordon just doesn’t exist in this timeline. How would Humanity have handheld the Nihilanth? What about the Xen invasion? Given they planned to nuke Black Mesa, that means they would have destroyed the Lambda Labs and with it, one of their best chances at defeating the Nihilanth, or just closing the portals. Maybe with the destruction of Black Mesa, the US government would then turn its attention to Aperture since they were in second place right behind Black Mesa, if anyone would be able to fix this it would probably be them… only for the “Bring your cat to work day” event to come to light and the complete take over of the facility by GLaDOs. She might agree to work together with the government, maybe, but definitely with ulterior motives. Or hell maybe the Government would just strong arm their way into the facility looking for any signs of life, they would then obviously find the people in stasis, and even Chell assuming this doesn’t happen before she kills GLaDOS of course. It’s just an interesting thought I had.

Half Life Lore Suggestion Video : Before The Black Mesa Incident many scientists and security guards found their way into Black Mesa for their job. However like any job , it requires Training , and just to be sure the body can make up for it s mind , they where sent to the Hazard Course on The Black Mesa Training Facility. Not only Barney Calhoon and Gordon Freeman where fit to escape Black Mesa but Doctor Rosenberg ( and thanks to the displacer Shepard used , a vortigaunt made it s way there and maybe Eli Vance found him and freed it marking the beginning of of trust for a rebellion in works )

Ok, Iv been thinking about this for a while, but something in portal 2 didn't quite add up for me. During the whole game, we are shown references to the moon. From schizophrenic scrawls on the walls to that decoded Lunar base image. I see most people say this is foreshadowing the end of the game, but what if we got it backwards. There's too much reference to the moon through the whole game for it to be a simple nod to the ending, so I think the ending might be a message for us to look back and re analyse what we know. We know rattman was obsessed with the moon and the scrawls are almost certainly his. The scrawls where we find the Portal gun seem fresh and depict event's after portal 1s ending so it's possible ratman woke up before chell in a state of insanity. We also hear his babbling in that infamous ratman den with the mugs and terrifying music. Above the portal gun is a ring of panels with phases of the moon scribbled on them and a hole to visible sky. It could be a makeshift calendar, but that seems too basic. There's also a drawing of a multidimensional cube graph thing with a crescent moon in the background and an animal jumping over it surrounded by cat companion cubes. Other scribbles later on point to the moon and calculations scribbled with "TO MANY VARIABLES" Lunar orbits are simple math and have been known for thousands of years. Even while insane, Doug ratman was exceptionally smart. He wouldn't need advanced calculus to tell time. Leading to the question, what the hell was he trying to do? It could have been to portal to the moon, but he had a Portal device and a clear shot so I doubt that was it, and if he did do that, the portal gun probably would have been sucked into space with him. I'm also aware that some portal Devs say old aperture was supposed to have signs saying "the moon is bad" with pictures of skeletons on the surface. This was not expanded on but adds context that even the Devs want us to think that something about the moon isn't right. So if ratman wasn't telling time, and wasn't portaling to the moon, both of which don't require advanced maths, what was he doing??? From the scrawls it may have something to do with shrodingers cat theory. Also possibly the borealis because some of the graphs look like multidimensional multiverse BS and we know from Marc Laidlaw that HL3 was originally going to have the "bootstrap device" which throws all kinds of story threads around regarding space and time. The last thing I noticed was that aperture tech looks quite similar to the combines tech. That could just be valves advanced tech aesthetic, white and curvy, or someone is copying. The borealis getting cargo from other realities? TLDR, there's more to the moon than portal conduction, What was ratman on about with the advanced maths. Is ratman alive and still laying the path for chell? Does the borialis cargo have anything to do with the moon. Honestly even the writers probably have gaps, but based on the amount of references, I'm sure that the moon has more to do with the story than just a cool ending scene.
