So on the no gloves point: The fact that the owner wasn't wearing gloves wasn't the issue. It was the fact that he had touched raw chicken and then didn't wash his hands before touching other things. This can cause cross contamination and get people sick. When you aren't handling things like raw meat, it is totally ok to not have gloves because things like vegetables don't have the kind of bacteria that raw meats can. This is also why you can't store raw meat next to cooked meat as the bacteria from the raw meat can contaminate the cooked meat.
@Joe90h
@Joe90h 7 ай бұрын
Yeah, even if for whatever reason you put on gloves to handle chicken and then took them off to prepare other ingredients, that's still not ideal because you're definitely cross contaminating while taking those suckers off. Definitely gotta plan your kitchen work around raw meat handling so you do as little of it as possible.

And that's also why the master chef guy was so mad about him taking that food from the trash and throwing it back in the freezer, not only was the food already bad by restaurant standards, but you're taking EVERYTHING ELSE from the trash and putting it back in the walk-in.

i prefer to handle ready to eat food with gloves. Its not a hard rule though and you still have to be diligent about handwashing. The variety of standards that you see in kitchens is pretty wild. Some of the fanciest places have bad roach infestations and even a place with the simplest menus still cut corners like you wouldnt believe. I basicly dont trust eating out at all but sometimes you just put that out of your head anyway. Ive only had food poisoning once but its not something youll easily forget. I got it from a pizza place that the risk of that should be very low.

@@Joe90hThat’s what washing your hands is for. Religiously wearing gloves often leads to more cross contamination because people disregard what they are touching because they are constantly “protected” and changing gloves (the point you’re making). Hands are fine as long as you are washing your hands!!!

Funfact - it's way way WAAAY more hygienic (usually!) to cook or prepare food WITHOUT gloves. If you regularly wash your hands which, without gloves, most people in the food industry usually do fairly often. With gloves, you tend to just keep the gloves on for touching and prepping ANYTHING, which is suboptimal!

That's been happening to most bars that were on the show. They typically dont like changes jon does and revert things back to the way they were and never follow any of the advices. Even if they are helpful. For this episode dugout they revert back to original name as well as getting a new place called press box upstairs and ed was such a huge ass nearly all of his staff quit on him. He was also on the news for refusing to follow state and city law during covid to shut his place down and see it as not a problem. Although I don't blame some of these bars. Like andy says. Jon has a tendency to suck the soul and life of the bar and give them bars that tend to look too clean too corporate (especially literal case with the pirate bar) too boring and stale. Jon may be a good business man and drummer apparently. But he is not great decorator and understanding what people actually want in a bar.

@@evandaymon8303it seems like he thinks people are put off by gimmicks and themes but a lot of people LOVE “tacky”, gimmicky, themed bars and restaurants, as long as the place is decently kept and the food and drinks are good (or if there’s at least something interesting to bring people in) hell, i live in Denver where we have Casa Bonita, which would be an absolute nightmare for Jon (tacky theming, gimmicks, and for years had a reputation of giving people food poisoning due to the practices in the kitchens) but it’s been a beloved icon of the city for DECADES, and since it’s reopening post-ownership change, the waitlist to get in is literally months long!

@christiano5109 as someone who works in healthcare, that mentality concerns me. Even if you're changing gloves regularly, you should be washing your hands between glove changes. That's been considered best practice in all the labs I've worked in, when I worked as a lifeguard, and working in patient care. I've never known a place where hand washing between glove changes isn't a thing. So either you aren't changing your gloves at all during your shift (which is basically the same as bare hands with no hand washing), or you aren't washing your hands between glove changes which still runs the risk of contamination.

hey andy ! i think i have an answer for you about why they bleep out the god part in swears like "god dammit", they don't do it much anymore but it was to censor someone taking god's name in vain back then. you'll see it in older music videos too from around the early 2000's up until the late 2010's i think ? they didn't wanna offend christian's so that's why they censored the god part and left dammit behind. as for the weird censoring on asshole, i have no clue why they do that, your guess is as good as mine. really fun video overall, keep up the awesome work !

This is because the FCC allows the word "ass" to be said on TV, since it's another word for donkey; _However-_ the word "asshole" is not allowed by the FCC's standards, as it refers to a butthole & is therefore 'vulgar'; So, because their prior ruling allows "ass" to be said, they are then forced to sensor the "hole" part of the word 'asshole', instead. And yes- the FCC *_is_* stupid.

but why dont they then also bleep out "damn" cuz isnt that still considered a curse?

my guess has always been that ass on its own gets a pass on being censored the same way it always has: it can technically be referring to a donkey. you put the hole in there, it doesn't have that technicality anymore.

@@runa_7022 No, damn is fine- it's when you add Christianity/religion into it that becomes an "issue in vulgarity", because it's 'takin' the lawd's nayme in vaynn!' Refer to my previous comment- Yes, the FCC _is_ stupid.

I’m not sure you’re allowed anywhere near Wrigleyville unless you’re already half in the bag, so the idea this place needs to be any level of classy is so bizarre to me. You know what was also across the street from Wrigley around this time? A 24-hour Taco Bell. The average age in this area on any night of the week was like 23, MAYBE, and the average bro level literally through the roof. Read the room, Taff.

They shouldn't have the 3-piece chicken fingers with fries printed out from a Microsoft Word document. They should have LAMINATED menu printouts from a Microsoft Word document. Laminated menues are A LOT easier to clean off alcohol, soda, wing sauces, etc from them. They're reusable. Oh and they need to have pictures in case the people are too drunk to read words or speak.

Fun fact Ryan Scott was on top chef and his food sucked 😂😂 I will say it’s blatantly obvious Andy and Gunner haven’t worked in the industry in any meaningful capacity cus a lot of the complaints they have about the experts and such are not valid complaints if u have any industry knowledge. That actually makes this funnier tho 😂😂

Yeah, I feel if I worked at this bar, the reality TV people were in, and the manager/owner was shrugging, pouting, and refusing to change... I'd be looking for a new job if I hadn't already been. I know reality TV is mostly creating a narrative that may not be present, but the guy's body language the whole time even in the talking head segments has been so dismissive that I'm surprised they got this many sentences out of him.

To answer the thing about weird censoring, most tv studios see "ass" alone as not a curse word and just referring to donkey. When hole is added, it becomes the curse word. Normally you could just bleep ass but then it leaves open if they said another word before it. So they bleep hole instead. For damn, it's also not a curse word but when adding God before it, it becomes a commandment violation and thus offensive to a limited group of people, so they treat it as a curse word. They can bleep half of it, though, and be fine.

I used to live near the Dugout in Wrigleyville. One thing to know about Chicago is that there are a lot of converted two or three flat apartment buildings that have been turned into retail or bar locations. The Dugout definitely was a shotgun style basement apartment at some point . There are tons of places like this on the northside of the city.
