In that show they coach the models before each challenge, give actual feedback and direction, and they treat the girls like they actually care about them. No senseless insults or confusing feedback. Yes I’ve been on stilts (pro circus performer here)-YES they should have given them some lessons and tips to start-maybe they did, and edited out? It’s a cool shoot, but definitely seems like these models weren’t set up to succeed. They all did SO well!!

I haven’t seen this season but just from this video it seems like the models are less afraid to speak up for themselves or tell the judges they’re wrong, maybe because they’re accustomed to it at this point? It’s really refreshing and it makes the judges look even more like assholes lol. “Where is that girl?” “I’m right here.” “Do you ever model with your legs closed?” “Of course I do.” “What club are you going to?” “My club, and it’s fun.” One of my favorites was when Mr. Jay asked the model if she was uncomfortable wearing a swimsuit that looks similar to a bra and underwear and she tells him she CHECKED, not for her own comfort but because she knew he was GOING TO ASK. She knew he was going to try to make her feel uncomfortable and she was prepared for it. What an awful reputation he’s established for himself among these models. So many rude, disrespectful comments from the judges, handled very tactfully by the models who often feel pressured/bullied into just laughing along or agreeing. I think the judges could feel that power imbalance shifting too, which is why Angelea was in bottom two for having the audacity to ask a simple clarifying question on previous feedback.

I agree, she was respectful and it's responsible to clarify what someone needs from you in a professional setting. Also about Geese, lol, we have Geese in our backyard because our neighbor feeds the Geese, so they have their babies in his yard and ours every year, lol. They are friendly for the most part, but not if you get close to their babies or if you have food and refuse to give it to them because they expect humans to feed them now because it's what our neighbor did, lol. So they're friendly if they spent a lot of time with humans and these Geese grew up around our neighbor and us their whole lives, but if I encounter one elsewhere, I stay far away lol. Even the Geese I know, I'm still extremely cautious and always respectful of them. But one thing, baby Geese are the cutest things ever, watching them play and run around is absolutely adorable lol (ours are Canadian Geese btw, they migrate to Oregon, where we live).

I’ve had two training sessions on stilts so far and looking fierce is the last thing I care about while up there 😂 Imagine two foot tall stilettos held on with three canvas straps. Serious Bambi vibes! I’m guessing that these are peg stilts too, which are soooo much harder because they’re so narrow on the bottom, like walking on crutches. I don’t think you’re actually supposed to stand in one spot on pegs, rather constantly shift between both legs. I know long time professionals who still indeed duct tape themselves in for security. I don’t blame the girls for being scared. The only saving grace is that there’s a lot of people on set to spot them. ETA: yes, breaks can happen! The first thing I asked before I got up on stilts was how to fall properly. But at that height without safety wires, you could realistically look at hip and arm fractures or dislocations even if you fall ‘right’ just from the force of hitting the ground. I think they’d be at a higher chance of sprains and twists here.

Also, in regard to the “booty tooch” nonsense is it really that or does Allison have an open back bikini and her back blend in

Angelea is R E A L.She called the judges on a lot of their crap!! They didn't like that about her.I appreciate her for that.
@MsLilly2003 жыл бұрын
16:36 It's the placement of the legs, but also the swimsuit. Allison has like a cutout in the back that makes the "booty tooch" illusion stronger. Left girl doesn't have that so she looks thicker and flatter. Especially with how Allisons skin kinda blends in a bit with the white background.

Mr. Jay definitely brought up the outfit to Shannon hoping she would say yes so it could be brought up during judging. He was looking for the non-existent drama!!

Thank you for doing this, Jessica. It's therapeutic to see you calling people in power out when they abuse their power. Your photography expertise is so illuminating about just how much BS this all was.

Australia's next top model was so tame compared to this. The makeovers were like "we're gonna trim your hair and then we'll do a photoshoot infront of a beach". Then you have Tyra's show and it's like "WE'RE SHAVING YOUR TEETH AND IN THE PHOTOSHOOT YOU WILL HAVE TO RIDE A MOTORBIKE THROUGH A RING OF FIRE".
@WinteringHeart2 жыл бұрын
This is the second time I’ve seen a model call out the judges. I can’t remember who it was or even the cycle she was in, but she basically defended her photo by saying she was getting conflicting feedback from the photographer and director. They accused her of making excuses and not knowing how to take criticism. Huge respect to the models that call out their BS, but you’re right, they definitely punish them for it.

@2:04 You gotta go there *Cycle 12 Flashback* Sandra: Don’t even go there!! Allison: where am I going?? 🥺
@ThePumpingiron273 жыл бұрын
It annoys me how Tyra has to always bring stories about her in the judging when critiquing the models. And it is usually saying it this way: well i was able to push through it and so should you. Not everyone is the same, and so they react differently to things. 🤦♀️

I think Jay's comment about her sleeping in the bus station refers to how Angelea, when she auditioned, had nowhere to stay overnight and no hotel money so slept in the bus station to be part of top model. Rather than a comment about her being homeless or something, it was specifically related to what she'd already done to get this far. Not that that excuses it, but to put it in context!
@theshadowfax2392 жыл бұрын
Jessica seems to know nothing about context, lol.

I understand that too, BUT, IMO there was no need to call that out, since he is a creative director, not a psychologist, motivational speaker or whatever. Angelea was doing a photoshoot, not a therapy session, so he could've approached her in a different way, like _"try this pose",_ _"arch your back"_ or _"face your body to the lights"_ etc etc... like... why to bring that out? PS: There are ways to encourage a model like _"great job",_ _"you're doing amazing"_ or _"I like this pose, let's try this one now"..._ but he goes _"Do you remember that time when you told Tyra about losing a baby, well use that emotion and bring it into your expression and take us all there"_ like.... C'mon dude!!

I've stilt-walked at parties for hours before, and it's all you can do to keep shuffling your feet back and forth to stay upright. I can't imagine trying to booty touch and be pretty while teetering like that. Edit: And you can absolutely break your ankles or your whole leg if you twist or fall wrong. The stilt shoe is firmly attached, but they have to wrap around your ankle and up your shin to keep the pressure points against the stilt, so pitching forward while trying to dramatically pose could be a recipe for a quick break.

I would like a tutorial on how YOU do your makeup?! Always has a soft natural but exotic look!

ngl i watched this series growing up and all I learned was that models don't have a voice and that's just how the modelling industry works, you have to do what you're told and if you have fears you either ignore it, overcome it or get kicked out of the show, which is SO wrong, SO toxic. Tyra had such a good opportunity to change that perception and do so much more for these girls but she instead reinforced the toxic cycle.

When I use to watch America's Next Top Model my mom use to tell me crazy stories when she used to model. One always got me was when she walked on straight up stones that was placed all over the runway with heels. The models pretty much had to hope for the best and not break an angle.

Yet another crazy ANTM photoshoot. I agree on how they should have trained the girls before making them do a photoshoot like this. I’m just saying not everyone has the same ability

One of the oddest photoshoots, outside the Greek salad shoot, they did they cycle was the prior one, where they had to focus on their brand word while eating a BYO hot dog.

This reminded me of something... Back when Instagram wasn't full of "influencers", a group of people held INTM, Instagram's Next Top Model 😂 and we basically role played as one of the models from ANTM. I did Allison (still my favourite) and used this picture in one of weeks. Like we got a theme and had to choose a photo lol
