GEN Votel was a very approachable leader. Amazing to see him eat in the dining facility every night in AF with everybody else and carry on conversations with any rank. He is genuinely a nice guy and did not seem to be all that impressed with himself like so many who obtain that rank.

Lot of wisdom here and yet on the budget, too many sacred cows (capabilities ) that need to be refit/merged bottom line. DoD has too many orgs/ civilians as well that aren’t war fighters. Yes sof /rangers are good but the clear stars of the dod are the logistics and transport uplift capabilities which makes things go. Without those, the phone’s not ringing.

So they think the US and Israel are a force of stability in the Middle East?? Lol We (the US) should not support one side over another in the region. Do business with all, let the people of the region figure out their problems. The root of the tensions are all the US bases in the region, and the unconditional support to the Israeli apartheid and genocide. From it's inception, the Israeli state has been expansionist and aggressive. They will never be accepted by the people of the region at the expense of the Palestinians. The power structure in place now takes an enormous amount of military aid and coertion by the US to maintain. It will thus fall as soon as US interests turn elsewhere. It's just a matter of time.

You would be correct if the radical Muslims stayed in their own country and did not radicalize their children to kill westerners. If you don’t want to have US military presence then don’t go outside of your country to fight others. I don’t think we should be giving anyone any damn money or Ammunition at all.
@muhammadedwards84255 ай бұрын
Honestly, no one hates Americans for being American. It's more that from the outside of America it looks like the public supports the destabilizing and frankly immoral foreign policy America has agreed on. Russia invading Ukraine because that was one origin of Russia civilization 700 years ago and it westernising is a security risk is wrong, but settlers creating Israel because of it's origin 2000 years ago at the expense of a agricultural culture without a military is okay?

People have to have moral reason to serve the nation including army. If young people see that, serving in army means depending genocide, atrocity, denying peoples right, ethnic cleansing, attacking sovereign state with pure lie to justify just to show power, how someone can motivate to support that kind of service, if they are not mentally ill or brain washed?

Depends on what you mean. Most people can’t see past their own family and friends so they cannot understand that energy policy is a driver of foreign policy. Also we have allies in the Middle East and Africa that Iran used proxies to disrupt and attack, it’s really not rocket science to understand that, now fixing the problem…that’s harder than rocket science

Israel had one major friendly fire incident 57 years ago. The nation of Israel was 20 years old at the time and barely functioning. It is tragic but the reason you keep referencing it is because you don’t have much else. My grandfather was attacked by US planes when he was in Korea. He didn’t prattle on about hating his own country after that. You are talking about it because you don’t like Jews. Spare us the BS. Hamas just killed dozens of Americans and still has some hostage and I bet you haven’t given it a single thought.

Let's be honest. Israel was not our "staunchest ally" at that time. They fired on one ship, the Liberty, which they claim was A mis identification. You can accept that or not. In the intervening years Israel has publicly apologized and paid reparations to the crew or their families. It was a regrettable incident, but it is time to move on.
