Hands down, the absolute best account of American War History ever told. Many points that are not taught, even excluded on our history; yet resonate absolute TRUTH and knowledge. Please don't miss the key points that sheds a whole new light on the intentions and powers that were behind the scenes. Thank you so much and hope to see more eccentric works in this fashion.

A kamikaze hit the California and he received major third degree burns, and had to return to New Guinea for the rest of the war to recover. Both of my grandfathers were in Vietnam, one was a AC130 mechanic in the Air Force, and the other was in the 101st Airborne division in the army. Such great stories that need to be remembered. This video leaves out the largest and most widespread Plains Indian Wars of 1863 - 1869, starting with the Santee uprising of 1862, the Dakota Wars of 1864-65, the huge and relatively simultaneous Sioux-Cheyenne-Arapaho uprisings in the wake of the Sand Creek Massacre that rage from Oklahoma to Montana, and ending with singular Indian victory of Red Cloud's War. These overlapping conflicts involved over 15,000 troops and as many as 3,500 Indian combatants.

This is one of the easiest summaries of the French and Indian War I could present to students. Well executed. The only minor suggestion I would offer is to actually add a tint to the shading to show which sides exerted practical control over which region. At 2:08, a red or blue tint would help students decipher the visual regions claimed by both the French and the British, for example. Please don't mistake this as a criticism as this video is already very helpful... I'm just wishing for perfection in the classroom with students who are still learning the geography/topography of the United States.

Battles are not the way to teach American history. There should be specific courses for military history especially for those headed to the military academies, but not for the general population. What is needed is putting the history of the Americas into world context. That ends with the French & Indian War. Hard to believe but our Revolution allowed Russia to absorb Ukraine and destroy the first parliamentary Commonwealth in Europe: Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Why do you think Pulaski & Kosciusko were in the US? The Czar had defeated them but they heard the US was promising the freedoms they had just lost.

Britain took their eye of the ball. They didn't think their citizens in the 13 colonies would revolt and didn't expect both France and Spain to help the rebels. If they'd known what the 13 colonies would become I doubt that financial problems would have worried them to the extent it did and they would have taken it more seriously. As it was it shocked some in the government and the King but the people of Britain if anything sided with the revolutionaries. Some areas in Britain like the famous American Ground in Hastings on the South coast of England declared independence and tried to join the new USA.

"True history" of our country is a right wing dogwhistle of a phrase that attacks all the hard-working schoolteachers across the country. It's typically uttered by grown adults who haven't been in school in decades, and who haven't paid any attention when they were in school decades ago. It's also rather ironic for someone to praise this video so vehemently to also then brag about using this to teach "true US history." This is just a very brief, and sometimes misleading (see the sections of the World Wars that leaves out the contributions and names of "the allies" while only specifically mentioning the US. It doesn't even give the Soviet Union any credit, except a blue shade.)

Thank you for making such an excellent video! I'm grateful for the many Americans who have sacrificed for me, my family, and my community. War is a terrible thing, and while America's past is full of both bad and good, the fundamentals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are what truly define this nation. May her people ever remember where the strength of America comes from. We honor the good, acknowledge the bad, and carry on in the cause of freedom!

This really puts into perspective what our ancestors had to go through to build and mold our country. It wasn’t always easy, a lot of mistakes were made, a lot was lost, and sometimes, bad things happened (not trying to downplay anything). Though we stumble, we still have our flaws and problems, and we might look around and not always like what we see, this is still our home, our country and it’s up to us to ensure a bright future, just like those who came before us.

The issue is the American Battlefield Trust is supposed to be politically neutral. How is it going to cover the "We lied about WMDs" Middle East campaigns without any bias. Not to mention, half of the wars in the Cold War that were a tie/loss portray the US military in a negative light.

@@JOEHOVA No. It literally is NOT a "great introduction to people without a deepbknowledhe of America's wars." Because, once again, it isn't even an introduction. As a World War I buff, you did an excellent job presenting the story of the Zimmerman Telegram and why it was timely and important. The British and French learned many lessons prior to the United States entering the Great War. They had already developed combined arms attacks by utilizing the rolling barrage artillery attack ahead of the infantry assault. They were horrified to watch the first American Doughboys assault the Germans with tactics long abandoned by the Triple Entente with head-on over-the-top charges at German trenches. After massive casualties, we took stock of what the early combatants had to offer. However, it was nice to see how you presented us as utilizing the combined arms assault. Had it not been for all the French and English who lost their lives learning this lesson prior to April 6, 1917, I feel the credit goes to them. Combined assault eliminated the trench warfare of that era and we have the English and French to thank. Our Participation in WWI can only be described as somewhat brief compared to the other combatants, but timely as the Russian February Revolution was only 2 months earlier slowly leading to their departure from the conflict.

I was greatly pleased to see Alfred Woolson of the Union Army credited as the last veteran of the American Civil War. He died in 1956 in Ohio I believe. Walter Williams, who died in 1959 at the supposed age of 117, claimed to have fought in the War, but it was later proved that he was only 5 years old at the time of outbreak.
