@@pricklycactusblossom6790 Well now... "stupit" me... You know, of course, that LOTS of 70's music, rock & roll and R & B were directly inspired by Viet Nam (protesting same), and Civil Rights, and the effluent-show that was Tricky-dicky? To quote Forest Gump, "stupit is as stupit does." Y'all have a very intelligent P.M.

I was BRUTALLY beaten over and OVER again as a little boy by my father and for many years after. After those beatings I would be in my room all welted up, bleeding and crying. I would listen to America on the radio and these songs took me away in my mind to a place where there was no more pain. I am so very thankful for this video. Watching this brought me to tears thinking back to those very hard times in my life, and it is healing at the same time. I have since learned how to play some of these songs on guitar and it makes me somehow claim them for their comfort that they brought me then and now. Once again THANK YOU for this video. I cannot tell you what it means to me.

I’m an 80s kid and a genXer but since i was born in the early 70s i caught just enough of the 70s to love both 70s and 80s music i’ve always loved america and have always had a bit of a crush on gerry 😍 most of their music takes me back to my 70s childhood there’s something so wistfully sad about ventura highway and sister goldenhair surprise that puts a lump in my throat - the early 70s music was the singer/songwriter era and much of the pop music was very much of a simpler time and place

I wouldnt say "underrated". Back in the 70s/early 80s they were extremely popular and got a ton of radio play. The fact that they are still touring tells me that they have a nice sized fan base. Not everyone has the taste for this style music (soft rock, I will call it), and those of us that do enjoy this music do not necessarily enjoy the so called "music" of today. I truly have been blessed to be able to experience the music of the 70's/early 80s as it happened.

I love that this entire America PBS show is on this site. As a Photographer, I've always been a huge fan of Henry Diltz. Also very cool to see Chris Cross singing with the band. The Laurel Canyon gang is all together. If I could go back in time and live anywhere in America during the late 60s and early 70s I would want my parents to move to Laurel Canyon. One of my favorite bands I've never had the pleasure to see in concert. Yes you guys are "Classic Rock" and the music will live into eternity. We had the BEST music during that time. Not sure which one which one asked us (but all 3 stopped) why we were out in the rain told them why we were out in the rain they direct (order) the 2nd limo to take us to the nearby hotel and make sure we get home safe which we did . How many of you were California dreaming back then , i was being stuck in the middle of the country. And no sooner did i know that little as i knew i would be 3 houses from the beach in Santa Monica going to Santa monica jr college and being lulled to sleep with the sound and glowing look of the Ocean with its red tide smell while looking out the two 4by4 wooden sliding glass windows on the 2nd story of a 100 year old house... Trying to get ahead thru the good and bad of those times avoiding Vietnam at any cost .. music of America made me feel i was really alive while listening
