Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZbin, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZbin. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZbin, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Best soft rock group of the early seventies. Yes America has a lot of good ones. "Ventura Highway" next, you might recognize the riff.

Such a great Band from the 70s. "Sister Golden Hair" is another of many excellent songs from America. "Ventura Highway" is another.

They're Americans, but they met and got together as high school students growing up in England. Their dads were US Air Force, stationed over there at the time.

Love America. Wore out a few of their tapes (showing my age). Might be soft rock, but when hearing them come on the radio you turn it up to 11. When listening to "Sister Golden Hair" reminds me of one of my best friends growing up, Wendy. (RIP).

Yes - all three members of America were in their 20's when they wrote and recorded Tin Man. Dewey Bunnell was 22, Gerry Beckley was also 22, and Dan Peek (who passed away in 2011) was 24. It is amazing to realize how young and gifted these singers/musicians were back then.

Produced by George Martin (yes that one) who also plays the piano parts. Beautiful harmonies, great tune and instrumentation, and Dewey's nonsensical chorus lyrics. Ton of fun on this.

So pleased you really like this, Shawn. :) Always beautiful harmonies with America. You can generally tell which of the members wrote the song, because that person would sing lead on it. All three of the guys created great music, but I've always prefered Dewey's voice, melodies, and cerebral lyrics. His voice has a bit of a haunting, dreamlike quality, I think. He did "Horse With No Name", also, so I'm sure you would enjoy his composition "Ventura Highway", too. It's a terrific song to play anytime, but it works especially well if you're going on a wind-in-your-hair roadtrip. :)

Met at a school for children of U.S. armed services personnel, where he met Bunnell and Beckley. All three were musically inclined, and when they decided to form a band, they wanted to avoid anyone thinking they were Brits trying to sound American, so they settled on the name America. They were 22-24 years old when this was released in 1974.

Ok, so I don't know if anybody else mentioned this, but this was produced by George Martin (the man who produced The Beatles albums), and the piano that you're hearing in this song is played by the same George Martin (he also played piano parts on a lot of Beatles records)

I know you are getting into Genesis, so I want to suggest finding a couple more ballad-like tunes. Try 'Firth of Fifth' for a smooth and interesting prog song with lots of acoustic elements about a river. And a later tune called 'Blood on the Rooftops' for both nice acoustical parts and an interesting lyric about indifference with some anti-war nuances.

The whole is greater than the parts. Its about myths. Myths we hold foolishly. Confronting myths. Retreating to myths. 1) Oz never did give nothin to the Tin Man - The Tin Man showed and had a heart all along, it was just unlike our myth of what a heart is 2) Please believe in me - The idea, the myth is that, you shouldn't believe in me 3) The tropic of Sir Galahad The mythical quest, for love? For being an adult? For lasting relationships? Finding none of them IRL are like our myths?
