CLARIFICATION: I've had a few comments regarding what I said about the flight attendants on my first flight. Overall, they were great, and I mentioned that. The comment they made was obviously not of bad intent, and given how hard they work, I'm not surprised they were happy about an empty load. I believe that professionalism should be maintained when working around passengers though. Do or say whatever you want in the galley or the crew rest, but there is no reason to say things like that in the cabin imo.

I think your comment about the flight attendents being unprofessional on the first flight was a bit rough. I took their comment as surprise at how few people there was and how they are excited about having a lighter day at work. You don't know what they came from. Their last flight might of been choc a block and they were happy for a lighter load.

I think his point is that, those comments could be saved for the galley and not for passengers to overhear. Regardless of what their intent of conversation, regardless of the flight load, they are at work. The fact that the flight attendant said “isn’t it beautiful,” could also mean they’re happy they don’t have to serve customers. Almost as if since the load is light they can half ass their job, which shouldn’t be the case.

Exactly, Tyler got my point. I wasn't intending to minimize the incredible effort flight attendants make on a daily, and I can totally understand their joy at not having a full aircraft. I was mostly disappointed that they said it in front of the passengers. While US flight attendants are quite casual, I thought it was a little unprofessional. They could have easily waited and discussed it in quietly later on :)

The intention of the flight attendants comment may have been “Isn’t it beautiful (with so few passengers, we are going to be able to get everyone’s meals and drinks to them in a more timely manner so they can enjoy their flight!). Just saying, we shouldn't always expect the worst in people.

I had a really empty Delta flight once. It was a route normally serviced by a regional carrier on a CRJ, but they had swapped it for an MD88 that one day. There was only one other person in first and he slept the whole flight. I had to work hard to convince our flight attendant that she was good to sit down in one of the empty seats and take it easy. There was no meal, but she kept trying to bring me snacks and drinks because there was nothing else to do!

I feel you, man. Keep the videos coming. I love the reviews and also love that you aren't solely focused on the premier classes. Are you allowed to publish the fare you paid (in miles or dollars)? If so, that would be a nice standardized element to add to your videos going forward, just so we can see what's possible and/or how we could similarly use various points systems. But overall, I love your videos!

I flew the 777-200ER Economy Class in a 3-4-3 Configuration in one of the Middle-Aisle Seats from LHR to MIA in the Brand new Config and it was awesome. The Flight was super full and crowded but the Crew did an amazing Job. They even offered my Dad Heineken Beer for which you normally have to pay on AA even though he never flew AA before and had no Airline or Oneworld Status. The Crew appeared from Magic within seconds after pressing the Call Button and helped out with whatever I was asking for. In the after Galley, there was a Buffet with Snacks and Drinks en masse, even more then in some Hotels. And as you said Daniel the IFE was just awesome and every Movie was available in German even though this Flight wasn't departing or landing in Germany. I wouldn't hesitate to fly Economy Class on Long Hauls with American again.

I flew on a newer version of this plane, and I think it was a 2016, an American airlines flight from DFW to Kona Hawaii. It was a very nice plane, even in main cabin extra.

Last time I flew on American was a few years ago when most of their planes didn't have seat back entertainment screens, especially on the 767/757 and the MD-80. Seats were rather uncomfortable too. I had better experience with United and Delta.

Don't be "afraid" to use the FA call button. If you need something, you're a PAYING passenger and perfectly entitled to call for an FA. Especially on such an empty flight. Good general review of flying economy on AA.

I’ve flew on United’s Boeing 77-200 and a Delta’s Boeing 767-300ER. I would always prefer Delta’s 767, because the seats so spacious, the cabin crew were nice, and the food was way better

Great review of American Airlines. In a previous role i frequented American, and United. American's economy was always more comfortable than United. But United's customer service has always been consistent IMHO. Keep the great reviews coming.

As a former flight attendant crew member of 17 years, I confess I’ve said the same thing on empty flights. In the US, our flights are almost always overbooked, running late, high stress. I know they probably should have said that comment behind the galley curtain and out of earshot, but cut em a break! At least they were in a positive mood. Good review though! I like watching your reviews.

I had a full row to my self on an Asiana Airlines flight coming back to LA from Korea it was in the upper floor where its 2-4-2 and I had the 4 seats all to myself. It was great.

Honestly I don't recline seats in coach at all anymore. The recline isn't enough on any airline to provide any extra comfort and leg room is all I want on a plane. When the person in front of me reclines it kills whatever leg room and whatever scraps of comfort I had. I just can't subject my fellow passenger to that when I get so little satisfaction.

Another clarification. UAL serves complimentary hot meals in Economy Plus on all United p.s. routes, being SFO/LAXEWR and SFOBOS. United Economy on p.s. (E-) still only received Bistro on board food, which I actually prefer, but that's neither here nor there, as in United p.s. Biz or E+, they'll usually comp you a BOB meal either en leiu or in addition to new the hot food.

you should really fly Air Canada business class, their staff are exceptional. the seats have tons of privacy, and the seats are amazing with tons of leg room, totally worth it. and all that for a good price!

Last summer i flew American from LAX to PHL and from PHL to AMS. The domestic flight was operated by an ex-US airways A321, with no inflight entertainment and no free meals. This is weird, because the flight was around the same length as your JFK-SFO flight. Luckily we still got a free drink and Biscoff cookies. Not like in europe where even water is not free. The PHL-AMS flight was even worse. Operated by a 757 which had no personal inflight entertainment. Only some overhead screens. And that little 757 was 100% full! I also flew LHR-LAX and that flight was operated by a 777-300. That plane was so much better. Personal inflight entertainment screen, the legroom was not bad and the service was quite good. I think on American the overall experience really depends on the plane you'll be in. I'll be flying Delta from AMS to SEA and back this summer on the 767 & A330. We'll see how Delta compares to American.

A little insider information. The airbus you flew on the SFO is one of THE best in the fleet. I understand it's hard being tall and fitting into those seats, especially for a 6 hour flight when you're 6 ft tall. I'm 6'2'' myself. The Airbus 321T has the most legroom in the fleet from what I've seen and it is NEVER full on overhead bin space. I'd recommend finding the plane if you are ever flying JFK-SFO or JFK-LAX. You did the right thing on that SFO flight, feel free to get up and come to the galley, we can get you anything we have to offer, especially if you are uncomfortable.

Surprised both flights were so light with the passenger load. At least this crew was inviting with the dog onboard, unlike that one United attendant, something that frustrates me horribly. You also booked two planes with newer entertainment systems, so it'd be totally different flying on planes with either overhead TV's or no TV's at all, both of which can also be found at American Airlines.

BA and American nearly always operates empty flights between LHR and JFK. They do about 20 flights together per day without delta so there's way too many flights per day and most of them will fly empty.

There were so many flights where I was supposed to fly on the 777-200 but they all got canceled or post-posted so they used a smaller plane. I did get to fly in the 777-300ER though, thanks for sharing the interior of the 772.

AA has different types configuration in 777-200 aircraft The last seats of the airplane are th most comfortable because they are not low pitch...are 32"

For the JFK-SFO flight it did not look like you were having any alcohol. Why not have either a couple of mixed drinks or glasses of wine and you will feel mellow and fall asleep. The next thing you know, you will be landing in SFO:).

Last time I was on a plane that empty was on an early morning ATR-42 flight on American our of Chicago. We had only 3 people on that flight, and it didn't surprise me that they ended up removing it from the schedule.

I fly from states to Europe 2 a year for work. Have never not seen such a light load on an ocean hopper since my Delta flight to Paris right after Sept 11. Why was there such a small load? Great chAnnel as I subscribed a few weeks ago. Looking forward to your response. And by the way have flown most American and many European carriers coach product from States to Europe. I now fly Air France economy exclusively as I believe they have the best product in that class. Their flight staff is always professional and courteous. Little extras in economy like shared bread, champagne and good French wine make their economy product nice. I almost always pay a little more for their economy plus, well worth it for the leg room. The problem with any of the big 3 US carriers are the issues with crews being all over the place, some have great attitude and are super helpful and some thing its a major inconvenience that there are actually passengers in the plane.

Of course many people do have LOTS of delays with them, But the service in my opinion is Better than the one on UNITED. I just returned from a trip from Portland Oregon to London, and yes the seats are super tight, and every leg of my trip on American were 100% fully booked. The worst was on 777 300, where I was in the middle on a 3 4 3 configuration, where I was sat between a couple flying together, and neither would switch with me, so they talked over me in Dutch for nearly 11 hours. The long return leg was codeshare with BA, so much better. I hate AA economy, too tight and too full, and although prompt service, not all that friendly.

If you note, 100% full, and neither wife nor husband would switch (one wanted aisle and the other wanted bulk head) so I was stuck. I did eventually tell them "enough!", and they stopped. All 3 of the AA legs of my trip had 100% sold and a wait list. Even EasyJet has been more comfortable than my AA trips of late.

JFK terminal 8 is fine. Especially compared to all of the other airports in NYC its only slow because of the amount of people / day. Also TSA pre check makes it pretty good to be honest.

Your flight on the American 321 reminds me of a flight I had from O'Hare to SFO on a 737-8, but here's my only problem I had: Legroom was terrible and there was no USB Charging unlike when I was on a 737 going to Chicago from LAX, there was USB Charging, but then: I was on the older model going home. And I had a Window seat both ways. But the crew on both flights were kind and generous though. So that flight I was on going home had its ups and downs.

Two things here: (first time commenter long time subscriber) 1) omg story of my life with American, I always get the person that wants to recline right into my lap. Ugh! 2) I’ve noticed with American that how nice your crew is depends on where they’re based. Assuming you probably had NYC based flight attendants they’re usually the younger (in seniority) eager ones. Ugh but getting these dfw based crews. Good luck. Hit and miss.

iFlyTheWorld It's mostly to do with if a particular breed can breathe easily on flights or not. Certain breeds are banned because they have a high chance of dying. 🙁 I've seen videos where large Labrador's and Golden Retrievers were in the cabin.

I've read a good portion of comments below and most love the idea of you doing economy. I've sampled loads of your 1st class and and business travels, one can see where you're somewhat spoiled with that type of seating arrangement in whereas you lost sight of other portions of the aircraft namely economy. These other comments seemed to also reflect that enthusiasm as referenced to economy arrangements. Perhaps you did beat up on the flight attendants a bit because of their enthusiasm of the aircrafts seemly lighter passenger load. All in all good videos, look forward to others, and again YOU fly safe....
