I am not concierge key personally but I have a close family friend who was invited and I have heard that buying full fare tickets is a good way to get recognized by AA. It also depends on how many CK members are currently living/using your local AA hub airport.

You are so right. They are continually buying aircrafts without trying to put arrangements in place to get more pilots. But so many "wanna be pilots" don't get into it because it's so expensive. If airlines made it easier to receive training, I'm sure the pilot shortage would decrease drastically.

I’m hearing they might be expanding at Raleigh-Durham (RDU) again sometime soon. They currently operate at least 7x weekly service from RDU to: Charlotte, Chicago (ORD), Dallas (DFW), London (LHR), Los Angeles, Miami, New York (LGA), New York (JFK), Philadelphia, Phoenix (PHX), Tampa, Washington (DCA), Austin, Cincinnati (begins in January), Nashville, Pittsburgh. There’s also seasonal service to Cancun.

With respect to international routes, my continent hopping friends still adhere to there opinion of "when flying international, fly because the customer service is better." The marketshare will not grow if the vendor does not provide.

As a continent hopper myself American has been great every time I've flown them internationally, the service/overall customer experience is better than the European airlines I've flown, they are much easier to call/contact, they have friendly cancellation and change policies, they provide more snacks between meals, and generally seem to have a more accommodating staff in my experience. Soon I'll have more experience with asian airlines, perhaps they're better... They did used to have a pitiful first class (not that I could afford to fly in it unfortunately), but now they've ditched it and have a normal business class that nobody could complain much about.

Many of us do not seeing AA growing. SFO closing in January of 2023 is one of the few signs. United takes the lead and will soon become the largest airline in the world, they have the largest route map than any of the big 3 carriers. United has 586 airplanes on order and CEO Scott Kirby has announced an additional wide body order of about 100 aircraft. The announcement for the wide body order is to be revealed later this year if things go as planned.

Their growth will depend on their ability to expand and be profitable on the west coast. SFO was not profitable and will be shut down in 4 months. Pilots will also be an issue that will prevent growth in the company. They will likely expand in DFW, CLT and PHL but it will be a few years before you see expansion on the West Coast where competition is heavy and expensive.

Easy to grow the numbers post pademic if they haven't yet been able to return all their plnes to service. Also, number of plames isn't full story because a smaller fleet with more capacity per plane may havce more total capacity than larger fleet of smaller aircarft. And it also matters whether your fleet is efficiently used. US airlines love to hub and have their planes stay at a hub for long time to make connections easier but that reduces fleet utilisation and overall capacity. An inefficient airlne can grow by simply making its schedule more efficient and carry more people per day with same number of aircraft. Personally, I have never considered AA to be that large. They are mostly a domestic carrier with links to western europe and little presence in pacific. (in the past, their refusal to get 747-400s shut them from trans pacific markets as none of its planes had the range). I still remember in 1998 or 1999 seeing a huge poster at JFK "Announcing new nonstop from New York to Tokyo via Dallas". One should remember that this is really America West. (HP bought US Airlines and then bought American).

The XLR IS a game changer - it will have the range to connect city pairings and offer either greater frequency or variety in city pairings. The range in a jet that size gives incredible flexibility to connect transcon city pairs but also eastern NA to many more cities in the EU

I'm seriously thinking about getting an AA Credit Card in late next year 7500 miles each way anywhere in Brazil and even low tier AA Gold gives you status on GOL. Alaskan Airlines 12000 miles anywhere in South America with a one way stopover is nice as well but only on LATAM flights as they were my worst experiences flying domestic so far in Brazil. Best to worse: AZUL, GOL, and LATAM. Air Canada requires 25000 miles for a one way with a stopover entire South American flight but the points earning rates are better via my humble Chase Sapphire Preferred card and not to mention Air Canada partners with both AZUL and GOL for award flights. Decisions, Decisions.

You clearly don’t know how finances work… AA took advantage of incredibly low interest rates and revamped their entire fleet with one of the youngest fleets in the world. Meanwhile United and Delta have an incredibly old and tired fleet. Flying 75/76’s, and the 717 at Delta. AA is 35bn in debt and United is already 30bn in debt without new aircraft orders. United will have to borrow more money at higher interest rates than AA did and their debt is about to skyrocket past AA. American is in the best position out of all 3.

@@rickieg9870 if AA can weather the next 2-3 years, theyll be in a great spot. Sure they wont have as many 787s to claim, but at least theyll have them in hand and not on an ordersheet like UAL. I applaud UAL, they are doing really well.. but what goes around comes around. Like I mentioned, you cant buy 100 dreamliners with fairy dust.

AA currently has over $70 billion in debt, and a mere $15 billion. in liquidity. With rising interest rates AA will not be able to handle the long term debt. I seriously believe AA will be the next Pan Am and go out of business within the next 18-24 months. That would be a good thing.
