He said the American Airlines captain died during his flight from Phoenix to Boston and the co-pilot had made an emergency landing in Syracuse, New York.
Captain Michael Johnston, 57, fell ill and later died while piloting an Airbus A320 with 147 passengers and five crew members. The co-pilot then took control of the plane and landed the plane safely.
