In 2015, I was 16 years old, and I remember listening to this song just for the melody, I couldn't even imagine understanding the lyrics one day. This year, I'm about to turn 25, and now I know how hard the lyrics hit.

It's about wondering how long I'm going to have surviving family, and if I'll decide to start one, or get the opportunity to start one at things point. I don't know if I do, but there's only so much time left and the decision WILL be made for me eventually.

American aquarium fan since 2015 (I'm from morocco, just randomly stumbled upon them and they have been a BIG part of my life one way or another), I was 17 back then and now I'm 26 and listening to this song really hits home. Had big dreams of making it big, but life said otherwise. I remember hearing this song when it first came out and I didn't really grasp the lyrics, however now I've just listened it again on my car while drunk and it hit home hard, and it's not even a bad place to be, life just happens and you go on many unexpected ways both amazing and not so amazing, what matters most is enjoying the ride. I actually hoped they'd render this song outdated once they hit it big cus I truly believed they would someday become HUGE, and still believe so. Hey, what matters most is art, this beautiful art that resonates with people from different backgrounds and locations, music is truly a universal language and I'm grateful for having american aquarium in my life. Cheers 🍻

I’m 19 turning 20 in a few days, and this rings pretty darn true. Dropped out of college, went to work and teaching myself what hard work and dedication really means. Thanks for putting these realities into words I could never.

Sometimes it's not so bad bein 25. Listened and typed up the lyrics, thought like sharing... Here they are: All my friends are growin up, changin pretty girl's last names I'm still findin my way, rollin down the highway playin a much younger man's games Everynight we're drinkin, at nightbars and dance halls They're all at that age we're they're all havin babies and pickin out the nursery colored walls They all ask me how I'm doin... I just smile and realize. :) That although it was kind to me, my youth is all behind me Now I'm on the losin side... The losin side of 25! Mom and Dad did the best they could To raise me the right way And I lean more their own, and I started writin songs and thinkin I had somethin to say So every week at the food line All the other parents boast! About their kids graduatin, gettin higher education And the big city jobs that they chose My parents ask me how I'm doin... I hang my head and close my eyes They say don't throw your life away, go and get a job that pays We love you and we know that you tried! The losin side of 25 Hey, I might never have a mansion Hell I might not own me a home But I got a couple songs and some boys that I call friends And a pretty girl that I can call my own. Hey I might never be a millionaire, but that's all right by me Cause I've done the things I've wanted to, and said the things I needed to and seen the things I've wanted to see. When they all ask me how I'm doin... I just smile and realize There are different roads to happiness I took a different path I guess Came out on the other side just fine. The losin side of 25. Yeah, There are different roads to happiness I took a different path I guess Came out on the other side just fine. The losin side of 25.

This video was exactly my life at 23. Then I gained a few pounds from working a desk job and my fiancee left me. She also tried to ruin my life. A few months later my chevy pickup truck blew the motor. Now I'm almost 27 and i'm depressed as hell. I have an inconsiderate roommate and a car payment and I live in the house that my ex and I furnished together. I play music around town occasionally and I exercise a lot but I can't lose much weight so I don't date a lot. When I do date I find that nobody really sticks with anything anymore and I find it impossible to trust anyone because of what I went through with my ex. I also got my "dream job" that I always wanted when we were living together but I can't seem to put any money away now that I have a car payment. I feel like i'm only living 50% of the life that I fought so hard to set up as a younger man, like i'm still working to protect what we started together but she is long gone.

Hmm, 25 is awfully young to think this way. Looks like a happy life to me. It's a mistake to think that you have to do this or be that to be "doing it right". Most people, they get a degree, that doesn't make them happy, get a good job, that doesn't do it. They get a dog or a cat or whatever, nah, that's not it. Then they get married, nope, that's not it. Have kids, well, that doesn't live up to the hype. Next thing you know, they're retiring, then moving into the nursing home, and they still aren't feeling it, but too tired and worn out to care.
