When I see this video (all the time) I see a real rock band of an age that is fading away, sadly being replaced by excuses that people call rap, altetnative, and pop. This band that is called DOKKEN is the very group that made me want a band, im 15 and I look forward to hopefully having a band and hopefully bringing back the 80's. Pretty much all shows like American bandstand and even the British version of American bandstand always did some kind of lip-synching. Basically it's because if for any reason they have to stop the filming and restart it's nearly impossible, or at least terribly time-consuming, to try to restart a song right in the middle and sync up all the playing and everything else. So most shows just did some kind of lip-synch. I don't think Don Kirshner's rock concert did, but that was filmed more like a concert instead of a TV spot.

Hands down, George Lynch was and is an absolutely mind blowing guitarist. The solo in “Unchain The Night” is ore of my all tine favorites. He packs it all in one mammoth punch, speed, precision, dexterity, harmony, creativity and flawless execution. I myself have been playing for 30 + years and I couldn’t tie the laces in his shoe. Tremendous talent. Big thumbs up to the uploader for this priceless gem. Great memories. 👍😎🎸

Was all a lip-sync. But, seen them live 4 times back in the 80's and they were fucking killer every time. George did nail most of his shit, and it sounded so damn good. Especially the bigger venues where he had 35 to 45 thousand watts pushing it all....

I saw Don Dokken playing at a state fair in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a crowd of about 50-75 people around 2003-2005. I remember Don coming out in a big fluffy mink coat, and he was a little overweight, ... but he his voice was no different as if you were listening to the album. He nailed every song.

Dokken is awesome they are all so young in this clip! They were amazing to see in the Hollywood clubs of the 80 the wisky!! Modern music has been diluted by American idol etc all of those acts are garbage ! It’s sad to see don dokken now george is still one of the best of all time

Jeff, thanks for sharing this. You guys were always one of my favorite bands in the 80's. I bought this album soon after its release and was blown away by what you guys gave us. I remember this vividly as well. During this time, I worked in a TV shop. I was the helper at this time, and I remember seeing this for about 20 seconds on AB when we got done repairing someone's TV. Obviously, I didn't get to watch all of it, but I was SO excited to see Dokken on AB.

Outstanding performance by the Dokken fellas.regardless of the lip-synch. I so much love the axe work by Lynch in this song. Just Got Lucky and Breaking the Chains are my absolute favorites by Dokken! Alas, time takes a heavy toll Don just cannot sing anymore, sigh. But I am greatful. I got to hear them in their prime in the 80's and I remember them kicking much ass!

thischannelrocks well if it is they do a remarkable job ..go to 9:26...jeff pilson hits the keyboard trigger right on for that voice synth part...maybe you are correct..its a well made video appearance...on further listening to the just got lucky video...the rhythm guitar track is clearly audible underneath lynches solo.....early eighties i remember it well!!!!....well most of it...

rudy garcia Oh yes,back in the days when everybody wanted to be the new Mr Edward Van Halen but Mr Scary really did stand out of the lot,he ruled and still does!I was 15 when i got into them and now 43 and still can't get enough lol Even when i was 15,started with Motley Puke and Poison borrowed from a schoolfriend and as soon as Dokken came into my life,that was it,said to myself " another kind of musicians than the two i just named" Hello from France :)

I was there also. I remember he got hit in the eye by a bottle cap or a penny. I clearly remember Donny coming out after George left the stage holding his hand to his eye and yelled at the crowd to quit throwing stuff at the stage and kick anyone's ass if you see them doing that! Don finished the set playing guitar and singing Breaking the Chains. Albuquerque was known for being stupid rowdy and throwing stuff at artist even if they liked them

I saw them after "Under Lock & Key" came out . It was my 2nd rock concert that I ever attended . I was amazed by the music & seeing them perform live . The only thing that dissapointed me was that whenever Don spoke to the crowd , it seemed to me like every other word that came out of his mouth was "F n" this & that ! . . . Literally , that was the only thing that let me down .

monicka lynn I'm glad i was too young to see this performance and remember it so i'm not reminded of my age. Then again, I think music like this keeps us young. The minute we don't like this kinda music anymore or feel we're too good for it is when we can say we're old.You're probably close to my brother's age. He saw all these bands when they were playing shitty clubs and getting paid in drugs or free drinks because the money wasn't enough to care about.

I think Lynch is actually better than Eddie, his guitar solos are more melodic, Eddie is more flash. However, the band Van Halen is out of Dokken's league, except for the Gary Sharone era..

@DeadShred99 жыл бұрын
David Lee Dude if I have to explain Lip Syncing to you then just wow !! I have seen them live 3 times they didnt sound this perfect ! Its rock band sync Micks hitting plastic drums with little to no sound or they played it live once then replayed that performance with the studio recording over it ! There are several ways they used to and still do it Google is your friend WOW LOL . Oh and George and Jeff arent plugged into their amps ? Wireless tech in 1984 was very new tech and would have screeched an squealed like a baby pig , and the wire packs were the size of a walkman take another look . Dokken is my Favorite band from the early 80s this wasnt live lol
