The beauty of Gershwin: "Rhapsody in Blue" also" An American in Paris"-music has a special uniqueness both in terms of compositional style and complexity of musical genres interwoven in this special fantastically famous work.

What I find most admirable about Concerto in F is that it is the only concerto I am aware of that features thematic unity among all three movements. (There may be others, but I've not heard them) And, the sonorities, melodies and harmonic structures are at least 25 years ahead of their time. I hear a bit of this in the music of Miklos Rosza.

Some parts of this music piece remind me much some parts of Musorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" and vice a versa. Both composers are great =))

Try the second violin concerto of Bartok. He wanted to write a theme and variations, but the person commissioning it wanted a concerto, so he used the same thematic material in all 3 movements.
